Dilemma number 1 Fly tipping

Me and my lad off to the shop on Friday, opposite Crystal Bay, there has been an issue with fly tipping and its getting the size of a full blown landfill site.
A car pulls up two guys , one young driver the other guy in his 40s. They throw 5 bags of domestic rubbish and we take his photo with his face clearly shown and number plates, he was a bit shocked that I had taken his picture.. after a bit of detective work he was on the way to work as a waiter close to us.
Do I approach him
Do I approach his boss
Do I report him to the local Esentepe Muchta , Beledye
Do I report him to the police.
i love this country more than the locals do, and I won't stand by and let people do it in my face, its wrong and it needs to stop. There are plenty of bins around these days , its just lazy

A real quandary this. My personal view:
Q1. What action will they take to rectify the situation they caused?
Q2. This is nothing to do with his boss, unless the fly tipping content came from the restaurant in question and the owner directed this pair to dump it.
Q3. Yes to both with photographic evidence to show them.
Q4. Not sure if this is a criminal offence here. Ask at the Belidiye.
Be aware the Esentepe Mayor has stated, publicly, this fly tipping site is not his responsibility to clear and police. If it is not, I have no clue who is responsible. You might try the Girne Land Officer.

I agree tenfold , rather than direct action , nipping it in the bud , they post on a forum and I just loved this sanctimonious addition "i love this country more than the locals do"

A bit harsh... I think the sentiment is shared by a lot of people. however who are 'locals'? If they work as waiters in a local restaurant it's more than likely they are not Cypriots.
Who ever it is, I guess the OP feels that he appears to love the island more than others demonstrate by their actions - I think we can all agree that this often appears to be the case.
What should he do? I would suggest action by him will do no good as he doesn't have a vote but if he could get a local to take up the cause there might be some mileage in it.

How about taking the evidence to the muhtar?

Go to the police. Littering and fly tipping is illegal and they will prosecute if given the evidence.

If you get no joy in reporting it, may i suggest trying to contact (if you have social media that is) 'garbage tag' its a Facebook page for north cyprus. they publish images of all fly-tipped rubbish, etc. they would probably be more than happy to shame the person you have taken pics of. sometimes once people are aware they've been caught out red handed and shown their real behaviour to the world, it may, make them think next time before chucking away rubbish etc.

Thanks for the wise words, not trying to be "sanctimonious, " If no one does anything nothing changes.
I have run it past a Cypriot, and he said difficult and he knows him. I will go to the Muchtar, he is a really lovely guy and proud of his country.
I once asked a Turkish Cypriot, "why do people throw their rubbish on the floor", he replied its not their country.

M and S, re the last line of your thread above. I think that's a cop out on behalf of the TC in question, not an answer.

That is absolute boll@&£€! Whose country is it’ if it’s not Turkish Cypriot?!
I am TC and this is my country and I don’t take kindly to people littering or fly tipping, or for that matter disrespecting my country in general.
I have also advised you to tell the police who will make investigations and prosecute.

Thank goodness for a Turkish Cypriot point of view. What is your view on the Esentepe Baskan's response this is not his problem, even though the tipping site is within his area of responsibility? Who should this disgusting site be reported to be cleared, fenced off and policed, please? It is an absolute eyesore and, being on the major coast road, does not help promote the TRNC as a 'tourist attraction'.

Personally I would ask him again and then warn him if he doesn’t take action, I’ll be going to his immediate boss to report his lack of action.

There is also an “emergency” number you can call when you see someone littering, if you just dial: 123 you can speak to someone 24 hours to report an offender.

I know the place you refer too and is disgusting however the last couple of days I have had the need to drive back and forwards to Girne from that area and have to say all along that road the rubbish of all types mounts up on a daily bases. Two days on the trot I have seen people discarding things from their car and truck windows. This along with trucks losing part of their loads and not having the decency to clean up the mess.
Even worse is to watch the Beledeye strumming the sides of the road and although collecting the cuttings in bags they leave all the rubbish plastic cans etc etc that they disturbed hidden in the undergrowth strewn around the road side and road.
That road is becoming one huge rubbish tip!
Rant over

I think the Baskan is "the Boss". The Municipalities Law
used to say that the Municipality:
inter alia, had the duty to require the landowner to clear up the site;
if the landowner did not then the Municipality could (not must) clear the site at the expense of the owner;
if the Municipality did nothing anyone could ask the [Girne] court for an order directing the Municipality to clear the site.
Whether this is still the law I do not know as I cannot read legislation in Turkish. Most likely it is as public health matters as much today as when the old law was introduced..
I wonder who is the landowner.

I expect the same should apply to all the dumped car wrecks by Akkilic.

This is the name of a tyre replacement site on the Bahceli crossroads. Just East of the actual crossing, travelling towards Tatlisu, a dump for derelict cars/tyres has been established next to a dwelling.
