Christmas Day Lunch/Dinner BUFFET?

I notice that The Malpas Hotel have just advertised their special meal/accommodation offers etc. for the forthcoming festive season.
I was therefore just wondering if this was an opportune time to see if any Forum members have any recommendations for any hotels/restaurants in the Girne area which offer a BUFFET lunch/dinner on Christmas Day?
These days my wife and I find we do not want a large heavily laden plate of Christmas food served up after starters...far too over-facing!

It's also quite hard to stomach adverts for Christmas during first two weeks of September! My advice would be to stay at home and prepare/cook just what you want

Hooray, common sense prevails.

Silverfir, tom, do you do the shopping, prepping, cooking and clearing up? Can the price of eating out at Christmas be matched by DIY?

Absolutely. Shop early, prep as much as possible before, cook only enough for those eating and share the clean up. No risk of drink/driving, no stress and the Queen's Speech.

Yes, I know what you mean re Christmas adverts starting already. The other day, adverts for Christmas at Disneyland Paris were on ITV!
However, apparently the reality is that these events do get booked up quite a good few weeks before the date so I am just trying to "get in" early as I have family coming to stay this year.
Staying at home is being considered as an option, especially with the excellent quality of meats available from Best Butcher in Ozankoy. But......my wife cooks me delicious meals throughout the year and it is nice to be able to go out and relax on big occasions. isn't it?

All depends on individual wishes and priorities. Young children involved, disabled people's needs etc.

Do it ar home and consider vegetarian or vegan. Animal husbandry and slaughter here is so vile. Why would you eat it?

We have been to the malpas 3 years running and it's always good. The price this year for 3 nights is amazing. If family were not coming out for Xmas we would go there again.

Kath in response to your comment. Yes I do get involved in the planning, preparation, cooking and clearing up for Christmas Day dinner. I totally agree with Tom Steel's comments at post 5. We have been married for a looooooong time and have tried many options for the festive period. Only on one occasion did we find away from home was enjoyable and that was some ten years ago when we spent two nights all inclusive (xmas eve and xmas day) at the Merit Crystal Cove. We have not repeated this experience because we have committments to animals etc so it is not convenient to make alternative arrangements.
Since then we have tried a few establishments just for Christmas dinner, but never achieved the anticipated satisfaction. We therefore decided the day was better spent at home. Preparation is enjoyed with a glass (or two) of sherry. Cooking is overseen with the odd glass of wine. More wine with dinner followed by port and/or liqueurs. This could well be followed by a nap on the sofa.
So, we don't have to consider driving anywhere. We can drink as much or as little as we want. The food will be quality, because as I said earlier, we have been married a looooooong time and know just how we like it (and the food too). The dishwasher will take care of most of the cleaning up.
Hope you all have a lovely time on the day. By the way, nobody is invited

The joys of staying at home have been well represented along with details of Malpas being such good value etc.
Still....no comments yet re BUFFET availability/experiences.

Sorry, each to their own. No chance of considering a Vegan option!
I have lived overseas for over 40 years, 30 of them in Muslim countries, and still have no hesitation in enjoying beef, lamb, chicken.....or turkey.

We have eaten for the last two years a Christmas lunch/buffet at the Malpas. It’s very convenient for us as we live close by. The first Christmas there was turkey and trimmings available but last year it was typical hotel buffet. Having said that for £20 a head with drinks included it was good value for money.

How about Kaya Palazzo? Fabulous seafood selection with lobster tails cooked to order, prime rib of beef, turkey with the trimmings, and so much more. All buffet style. With drinks included it's 300tl.

I'm not considered 'safe to be let out' in public areas after a Christmas dinner - it's the sprouts, you know...

Its £199 per double room (£99.50 pp) and that incudes all meals and drinks!
£245 in a single room.

Oh Jaceebe, your Avatar showa you have such a warm pleasant face, but if you have lived in muslim countries then you must have witnessed many halal slaughters and I am thinking that you have a cold heart.
Vegetarian is the way to go forward so that the whole world can be fed, If you eat no meat then your body will no longer smell so bad from all the dead flesh you consume, and you will not need chemaical deodorants to cover it up. The planet is the only home we all have . so cherish it instead of killing it's other inhabitants to gratify your instant needs

Not sure if lovely smileys meant for me but Thanks Keith! sorry if it seems rude but eating dead flesh does make you stink. I can smell it on people around me. Like if you are a non smoker and hate smoke. UK have so many people converting to not eating dead flesh now it will not be long XXX

Nice to see a vegan/vegetarian raise a smile. Usually they haven't got the energy.
If you are takling about the planet as a whole and humans as just one species on it, then I assume the intention must be to convert Lions and Sharks and such like to the meat free option too?
Best of luck with that.

Personally, I make a strict point of only eating animals that were Vegetarians - does that count?

But perhaps they only
thought they were vegetarians...
From
Wiki...
A British and Irish inquiry into BSE concluded the epizootic was caused by cattle, which are normally herbivores, being fed the remains of other cattle in the form of meat and bone meal (MBM), a protein supplement in concentrated feeds. Since dairy calves are generally fed concentrated feed after they are weaned, they usually develop this disease more often than beef cattle.
The cause of BSE may be from the contamination of MBM from sheep with scrapie that were processed in the same slaughterhouse...
... And apropos of nothing, "Casserole", in order to support your pleas to 'convert', would it not be more appropriate, to change your user name to
Vegetable Casserole? After all, sadly(?) most people would associate the term 'casserole' with a dish of vegetables
and meat....

Waddo, the Kaya Palazzo does a lobster and Prosecco brunch every Sunday from 11:30 until 15:00. Huge array of fresh seafood, grilled meats, pasta, salads, soup, desserts and much, much more. Eat and drink to your hearts content for 200tl. The Christmas Day offering will be all of the above plus traditional Christmas goodies such as turkey and prime rib of beef for 300tl.
