you can call 112 with any mobile phone even if your phone doesnt have a sim card in it.

That's 'cause the credits need 'reactivating' (or something) after 180 days - you can put as little as 9TL credit on.

I'd forgotten about Vodafone - good point!

For anyone else, remember that you can top up your phone credit online at any time, from any Country.

You will get an ambulance!

155 is the number for the Police!
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Can I ask do you know if the vodaphone package you have is currently available as I would be interested in a package that allowed this sort of usage.

Vodafone cover Turkey and by default Northern Cyprus as if they were part of Europe so no border problems in roc as well
I have 15gig data unlimited calls and texts £18 plus I pay £3 for calling any numbers worldwide for 100 minutes a month
I use the international calls bit if I ring the TRNC or Eire from UK
The data is useful for when the apartment internet is playing up

Loobyloo, links to sim only Vodaphone https://www.vodafone.co.uk/shop/bundles ... nly-deals/
and payg deals https://www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/pay-as-you-go-plans

Plenty of other info when you dig about the site. I was in UK for a bit recently and used a payg package with included internet, mins, sms, but changed to payg 1 just before I returned back home here. Seems a no brainer if you live in the UK and visit here, to just use Vodaphone UK sim all the time, rather than getting a local sim card.

Isn't there an issue with using a UK mobile phone in NC in that after so many days (30?) the local phone service i.e. Turkcell switches off your service because your mobile has to have import duty paid on it?

I have Vodafone PAYG; as I use my phone about 10 - 15 times a year (TRUE!!), I top up with £5 maybe once a year. I possibly use it more in Cyprus (e.g. ordering water) than in the UK, but my UK rates apply.
(And news say that Vodafone have agreed to NOT impose roaming charges after Brexit....)

'No' from wanderer. Does that mean that there is no time limit on using a Uk mobile phone now? I know mine stopped working after a month or so just after the government brought in the requirement to pay import duty on foreign mobile phones.

You are restricted by vodafone to I think 90 days continuous use abroad so 89 days return to uk and another 89 days wherever
The 90 is correct I think but may be 60 days check with vodafone
Good thing is that the wife's phoneis vodafone so I can wander off when shopping and keep in touch

How do the TRNC block uk numbers they can only block their own numbers
