You would then not have any water during a power cut (loss of gravity feed from roof tank) unless you had high pressure 'Turkish water' feeding straight into your system, eliminating the need for ground level tanks and hydrofor pump system.

It's a leap of faith too far for me at the moment!

I took that leap a few years ago, no real problems at all and now have just a two ton tank at ground level - easy to get at and clean out every year - with the pump right beside it for easy access as well. Took down the old tower and the panels and the old steel square one ton tank and gave them all away. Now all my plumbing is at ground level. Fitted an extra tap to the two ton tank in case of power cuts so we still had access to tank water, it has all worked well for us but would not be suitable for everyone. In a power cut you have no water pressure or gravity feed unless of course you have a standby generator and the real desire or need for a shower during a power cut!
We are - allegedly - on the Turkish high pressure water supply in Catalkoy BUT during the summer months it is still turned off during the period of 06:00 to 18:00 most weekdays and some weekends so have never gone to the next step of having a bypass from the tank system to the mains system yet. To be honest, the advantages of having the tank/pump/pipework at ground level where it is simple and easy to maintain, for us, far outweighed the now very occasional power cut problem! Did all the work myself, bought my own plastic pipe welding gadget three or four years ago - dead simple to use (wear gloves) and the pipework along with fittings are dead cheap here.
Up to you and how you live - we are happy with ours.

Only becomes a problem when the power is cut and the wife is on rinse mode - lol. Then it is all hands to the generator or take away for weeks !!!
