Interesting speech by Kemal Kilicdaroglu - especially the reference to Erdogans $15 billion personal wealth deposited in the Isle of Man bank (paragraph seven)!!
From Hurriyet Daily News.
“We are in the middle of a various crisis. We are at the beginning, not at the end of it,” Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the leader of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) told in his address before the Party Assembly meeting on Sept 14.
Those who govern the country have to be careful in being open to criticism, in carrying out their jobs in a transparent way and in being checked by the necessary state bodies, Kılıçdaroğlu said, “At the point we have arrived none of these three are visible. They even don’t tolerate to our proposals. Who will answer the questions we ask you? Foreign powers?”
Slamming President Erdoğan over his critical tone against the Central Bank’s decision to increase interest rate, Kılıçdaroğlu lashed out at the president for complaining about the independent body’s actions.
“How come you can complaint about it? Isn’t it you who has been ruling this country for 16 years? Or is it (German Chancellor Angela) Merkel? Or (United States President Donald) Trump? Go and issue a presidential decree and appoint yourself as the head of the Central Bank. That’s too simple and as you did with the Wealth Fund,” Kılıçdaroğlu stated.
CHP leader argued that Erdoğan failed to govern this country and its economy and therefore should resign.
“He calls on the people to convert their foreign currencies. Have you converted your own $15 billion that you have in the Isle of Man bank?,” Kılıçdaroğlu asked.
The interest rates have tripled in less than nine months and there is no concrete action by the government to respond the crisis, he stated, calling on Erdoğan to respect criticisms, to follow a transparent economic policy and to allow state audit agencies to do their jobs.
Kılıçdaroğlu did also criticize Erdoğan over a luxury private jet gifted by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to him.
“He made a confession yesterday on that they are giving up of wasting away. While saying so, he bought an extraordinary beautiful plane for himself.
Now they say it was a gift by Qatari Emir. I am now asking: Mr Erdoğan, whose plane is this?”, Kılıçdaroğlu said.
“If you paid for it, it’s a big shame. But if you not paid for it, and a second hand plane is gifted to you, then it’s a bigger shame. Nobody has the right to play with the honor of Turkey. the President of Turkey cannot travel with a gifted plane. I am asking an answer from you on behalf of 81 million people.”
