Why what do they commemorate on Thursday the 15th November? There is nothing I am aware of that is happening on this day.

Where do they normally fly over and how long do they stay for this celebration.
Went to one several years ago, but don't remember where .

Ok I have just phoned a friend and indeed the 15th is a public holiday and all public offices and I guess banks will be closed but I am annoyed that my Cypriot Turkish calendar did not show this. As to whether the Turkish Red Stars will be flying will be down to the weather I guess.

Saw Solo Turk at 20th July do, absolutley brilliant. If you ever get chance to see display do not miss it.
The announcement then was Turkish Stars would be at 15th November display.
Check out press nearer the time but display is usually about 15.30 and lasts about 15 minutes. See it on seafront at Girne to get best appreciation of event being among thousands of others.

The best place to stand if you don't want to be crushed, shoved and pushed is on the terrace of the Onar Village hotel. Terrific views and right high up. Sit in comfort as well.

Isn't 15th November this year the beginning of Islamic new Year?

Sorry Sophie, been on promenade for at least 7 of these displays and never been pushed or shoved. The atmosphere is brilliant being among thousands of others watching this spectacular display. When the aircraft come down so low that you can shake hands with the pilots, WOW!!! And the noise, absolutly fantastic as the aircraft pass right in front of you. Then somebody did call me a sad ******* cos I like steam trains!

Cyprusishome, I totally agree, I always watch them from the liman, breathtakingly close and you can't beat the atmosphere, never yet experienced any pushing and shoving.

As predicted by Cyprusishome, the display is indeed due to start at 15:30 on Thursday.
Also according to
http://www.haberkktc.com/haber/kktc-29- ... 51954.html there will be a military band playing in the centre of Girne from 1.30 pm on the same day.

Ooops! After sending an email to Sophie which somehow or other I mannaged to send to myself, I've just discovered how to post a message.
My question was to Sophie:- Where is the Ona Hotel and could you supply rough directions on how to get there please.
Say from Tempo supermarket Chatalkoy.
I googled it,looks very nice, but still could not find where it is situated or how to get there.
Thought it might be pleasant to have lunch there and watch the flypast
Thanking you in anticipation
Linda

I know it's not the big attraction of the day, but for those wishing to listen to the military band at 1.30pm, but unsure of the exact venue, then you should know that it will be in front of the Dome Hotel.

We saw them practice today. They were brilliant. Watched from our roof terrace just up road from Cratos.
Think there were 7 of them and they did the full display.
