Does anyone know please where I can get some thought I saw some the other day in a supermarket, first time ever. Can't remember which one and certainly can't find any now. Thanks in anticipation LOL

Have never seen limes for sale, green lemons yes. Would love to have limes this side of the island, but can be bought south side.

This thread has made me laugh thinking about years ago when we first came to TRNC and asked for lime in our drinks only to continually being given green lemons! It was the start of us settling into the ways of the island and embracing the differences with glee .
So, best wishes on your quest for limes but, maybe you will settle for green lemons .

So sorry to hijack your thread, but I am looking for lime juice, like lemon juice, not lime cordial.

I cannot even find in the south.

Isn't it weird that lemons grown here but no limes? They are as synonymous as "salt & pepper"

I was informed last year when i purchased 2 lime trees to ensure not to plant near a lemon tree as it will get cross Pollination and then the tree will produce lemons.
in the phillipines they have lime not lemon so maybe there is an element of truth in this advice.

Lime trees are available at Nature Garden in Alsancak.

We planted 4 x Tahiti Limes and 4 x Muscat Limes this spring and, despite our best efforts, they're fruiting now.
Apologies - but not enough for sale just yet!

Cross-pollination shouldn't be a problem as that would affect the seeds and not the fruit grown from the tree. A far bigger problem is if the root-stock is allowed to reassert. Just keep a look out for suckers that don't emanate from the grafted bough. Root-stock for citrus here is generally Seville Orange (Turunç). It's extremely hardy and really spiky.

Blimey it's very confusing!

I will seek out the Sah 'limes' and see they really are limes or some hybrid lemon masquerading as lime...

Lambousa Market I don't suppose you have any idea on how big and the cost roughly of the above mentioned lime trees at Nature garden do you? thanks

Thanku to one and all.
Wherever it was I saw them it was the Lapta side of girne. Wish I'd got them but never mind. I should know better - lived here long enough LOL. They were definitely limes and were close to the lemons. Perhaps the lemons bullied them into changing sides if lemon trees do that. LOL
Thanks again all

Ya Beles at Alsancak have a big display of limes today, so assume their other branches are the same.

A friend has a lime tree in the garden - however they are yellow when ripe. Don’t forget to use your nose when buying!

I did buy them from Nature garden around £30 in March and was advised by them to not plant them near the lemon trees, both trees going strong. I assumed they meant cross pollination

Not true Keith. Limes will eventually turn yellow but they are better when you pick them when they are still green especially if you want to use the zest.

Have had several goes at growing a lime. The only one that lived was a sweet lemon. Had 2 fruits in 1st year nothing for about 3 years and now have one fruit. the grapefruit had been in for about 6years flowers and starts fruit - never gets to maturity. Have had an orange tree in again for about 6 years and finally has a few fruits on it - wonder what they’ll be when ripe the lemon always does well. Hey ho - this in Cyprus- is there a date yet for olive harvest yet?

Just bought a very nice lime tree - with limes on it at one of the garden centres east of Kyrenia. If you go past stormax it’s not the garden centre immediately after it it’s the one after. 150 tl
