Loud music and no I am not a kill joy

This morning at 2.30am I had to shut all windows because of the loud music which I think was coming from the direction of the Lords Palace Hotel, even with the windows closed I could still hear the thumping. I live about a mile away, how can anyone who lives in that proximity put up with the noise. I thought since last year regulations were brought in, as at that time I complained to the department responsible and it did get better. I understand people want to enjoy themselves whilst on holiday but not at the expense of families who have to put up with it. WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO LOUD.

Cratos goes on until about 4am - every Weds night and weekends. They even turn it up louder for the last hour - it is horrendous at times.

Sadly, what the paying clientele wants and is paying for, is what the provider delivers. Tourist areas are prone to be at risk of loud music late at night/early morning - this is a fact of life worldwide and is not confined to the TRNC.

A lot of European resorts have to have it inside with closed doors by midnight. Thought about complaining to the police or will that just get ignored? A concerted effort of complaints? We just had a night of dogs howling all night!

When my neighbour has one of his BBQ's and invites all his friends around he also has a disco box that comes with them. I have solid shutters on the windows and fly blinds as well as double glazing but the noise is just as if the whole party was inside the house. Tried phoning the police, no answer to start with, then no speaky English, then at last somebody who said they would come round with the magic box to check out the sound level - still waiting but it's only been 13 months so I still stand a chance - lol. But go on, phone them, you never know!

waddo, most probable the rozzers are at the BBQ and running the disco for additional pay. Cynic, me?

It would appear that, turning up the music stops conversation, if you stop conversation people drink their drink quicker,
therefore replacing it more often.
With sound at normal levels one consumes a half beer in 14.5 minutes. With the sound cranked up so no conversation can be heard it takes one 11.5 minutes to consume the same drink.
Maybe it’s a way of telling some of us to stay at home and suck a werthers original.

Mr Chinnery....you make a very good point that I'm sure many of the owners of the venues who promote Live Music will be interested to hear. I'm sure that you haven't just plucked the figures out of the air and that your conclusion is based on cold hard facts (sources please).
The problem with playing music to loud however, is that should the 'loudness' exceed the permissible level and the Police are called by a disgruntled neighbour, large fines can be imposed.
All the same, a very interesting point that I will mention to Mo at the Courtyard tonight 'before' Gasoline (helping Hope4Pets) perform their Nostalgic Blues Sets in front of an enthusiastic audience. I think that it may be sold out, but anyone who is interested can always ring Mo' to find out (0533 860 6815)

Lol, try not to push it. Totally aware of what is going on. Would be a shame to take advantage only to end up on the Moderators Queue and Signature removed.
Have PM'd you to help with continuing your charity promotions going on Kibkom.

Last two summers we suffered a lot from the disco club in Alsancak, we signed several petitions, wrote to CT several times, At th beginning of last summer when the nightmare started again we came with a written complaint to the Environmental department in Girne , they were surprised, they never heard about the problem before.
Now we are having the same noise pollution problem with a new hotel Kaya Palace.(((((
You should complain ( written in Turkish) and pass it to the department. It is situated in the Kyrenia harbour, on the 1st floor , above the Tourist Information office.
We all should do it, perhaps the authorities will understand that the new law on noise at night should include all entertainment places .

last night was the loudest for a very long time from Lords Palace. I think they are reacting to the comments on this blog. The noise did not stop until 04.30. One can only hope it will stop soon, this is a sure way of deterring tourists as observed in the South. It has taken them some years to act on the loud music in Aya Napa and now it seems we are trying to emulate their environment!
The telephone number to ring if you are affected by the noise is 8157062
