New Catalkoy Post office manager

New Catalkoy Post office manager is insisting that ALL parcels sent from there are LESS than 2 kg, or they have to be taken to Girne main post office, secondly that he insists that the contents are inspected by him before sealing. Despite it being pointed out to him that his role is to dispatch parcels given to him, NOT to act as Customs and Exercise.

Anyone had a similar experience ?

Years ago at the Girne post office it was the custom not to seal any packages until they certified what was in it before being posted. It may have changed now but it would be interesting to know.

Just about to submit this and wanted to use a smilie but cannot see how to put one !!!!. Help.

I also took a parcel to Catalkoy PO, but had been warned that he would want to check contents. I parcelled it up after showing him the contents.

Maybe now the postman will deliver the mail to the individual addresses instead of leaving it in a pile at the first house on our site for people to find or not as the case maybe. Great if it rains before you notice its there.

I was in Girne post office the other day, there was a Turkish lady posting about 10 parcels, they were all open till the chap behind the counter checked them and he then sealed them for her.

Maybe this is a new directive by those upstairs ???

Mel.

Deniz,

When (and if) our postman decides to deliver anything larger than a postcard - he leaves it on the wall, next to the pavement, so the neighbours and any other passers-by can have a good 'nosey' at it, until I rescue it.

It's a good job that everyone round here is honest!

Liz - go to "post a reply" - you'll have smilies, elves, christmas trees, etc. etc. coming out your ears!

Hope all is well with you.

Jean

Keith Caley, yeah I can vouch for that - some of the contents in those plain brown paper parcels on your wall are a real eye opener!

They sit there for ages sometimes if you dont know this is what he does you just wait for the post that never arrives. Countless visits to the office produced no change.

Deniz, you're spot on there!

I called in to Alsancak P.O. some weeks ago, and enquired after an overdue parcel from Hong Kong (ebay! ) - they said that they didn't have it, but would keep an eye out for it...

So, last Friday morning, I got a 'phone call proudly proclaiming "We have your parcel!" - we have been checking every day! - Off I trotted, to be presented with a parcel that had come from the UK - my new "raspberry pi" (that's a geeky computer thingy, if you didn't know ).

Anyway, while they were digging that out of the pile , I spotted another parcel, and asked what it was, and sure enough, it was my Hong Kong parcel, with a stamped-on date, indicating that it had been languishing there since Sept 19th !

Ho Hum...
