Green Hill Cemetery help needed

I have just come back from visiting the cemetery for the first time for two years and what a lot of work has been done. The whole area has been cleared and lovely touches added here and there. I believe every Lira donated has been tastefully and wisely used, I congratulate you all. The only blot was that the toilet was out of use. Is there a plumber who would donate his time to fixing it? I am not a committee member but if you ring 0392 825 2443 or 0542 852 0236, taken from Buzz book, they would be able to explain what needs doing.

Diehard. Tottally agree with you. This is a most beautiful place and exceptionally well maintained. its however a subject that people tend to shy from as we are invincible, We contribute towards donations and in particular the new well that they want to instal for irrigation. Whilst saying this the Green Hill cemetery committe appear reciticent in publicity although it seems the British Residents society have now taken up their cause. I am somewhat confused as to why Greenhill have not responded to this posting or asked for assistance in carrying out the repairs.

Jackvern, you wonder "why Greenhill have not responded to this posting" - is the Committee (or any individual member of the Committee ) a member of this forum?

KC, spot on. Why do people automatically assume that the world, his wife and his dog come on to Kibcom. The Cemetery Committee have I understand, appealed on numerous occasions in the local paper for assistance, but then again, not everyone buys C2D.

We buy C2D when we run out of stuff to wrap rubbish in. My husband never comes on Kibcom. My dog can type but can't handle the mouse so stays away from the computer. The World has better things to do than read about the TRNC. This is a great forum for finding out things like the cost of beer and the state of the roads or where to get a good cheap meal but try to get or offer help and it fades away again. I blame it all on the PC situation that the world has accepted, people are now too afraid to say or do anything that puts their heads above the parapet!

Think this is a little bit harsh.
People post daily on this forum asking for help and advice on a huge range of things, not just beer, the state of the roads or where to get a good meal and more often than not a helpful Kibkomer will reply.
Sometimes the help, advice etc will be conflicting as everyone has their own experiences/views but in the main you can get a huge amount of help from the forum. Just a trawl thro some of the posts will find how helpful people are....plus also those that ask for help and advice do post to say thank you.
As for offering help, there are many people volunteering their own time to help and support many organisations here in the TRNC.
Just my opinion of course.

We first visited TRNC in 2011 with TC friends, staying in their apartment in Girne and also in 2012. At this point we toyed with the idea of buying "a place", and made one or two enquiries. 2013/2014 we rented in Karsiyaka, and decided this was where we would like to buy...
BUT before we did, we googled for more info - the old Cyprus44 site (although by then closed) provided several pages/posts relating to the site we were considering, in light of which we went ahead with our purchase. Just prior to and subsequent to purchase, this site has been a never-ending source of help, advice and tips on virtually every subject under the sun - of course, it's also been the source of many "interesting" and humorous debates/opinions....
I'm sure that many have (like me) occasionally got hot under the collar and had steam coming out of the ears about some items, but IMO this and similar forums are "the best thing since sliced bread" - long may they continue!
