My father-in-law has not received his UK State Pension for the last 3 months, it keeps getting returned from Turkey with the statement "Payment country guidelines not met". I have provided all the details required by Creditwest Bank for transfers but it still gets returned. Everything has been fine for 4/12 years until this August. Anybody else having problems and possibly any info on how to rectify the situation. TIA.

The problem seems to lie with the forms filled in. Suggest you re-do forms from the Pension people, check with bank that it is acceptable then email back to Pension people. My husband had problems with his pension (not State) as Vaklar bank in Turkey (the clearing bank for Capital Bank) had decided that if there were ANY anomalies on the pension form, they would refuse the money. We had to get another from from Pension people, complete to Capital Bank's satisfaction the email to UK Pension people. Eventually, the money arrived here. It would appear, Vaklar bank decided in January that some forms which had previously been acceptable, were unacceptable hence having to do it again.

Many thanks for reply, it really is crazy as his private pension gets through with no problems as does mine.

My mother also had problems with receiving her pension. It turned out that the she needed to prove she was still living. After they received the form everything got back to normal.

When you live abroad you have to fill in a proof of life certificate and return it within 16 weeks .
Mine took 78 days to arrive and althoigh there was still time to send it back by mail I phoned them explained the situation they asked me certain questions happy with the answers they said I didnt need to send the form back
However they did say I would receive one every year
Also happened to a friend and he phoned them and sorted it in the same way

I have just had a private pension payment rejected by Turkey but apparently it was because it was coming from Guernsey. If it had been from the UK mainland it would have been ok. They have introduced new laws which only allow them to accept payments from certain countries.

Having had around £800 in twenties refused by the bank for the tiniest imperfectons, eg not mint, I did point out that they should be welcoming chocolate money in lieu of the TL.

Enjoining the Sun, what happened to you makes me so livid. Same happened to me recently but for a much smaller amount. They refused what appeared to be a tiny purple blotch on the corner of two sterling notes, but DID accepted some of the dirtiest, torn, disgusting 5tl notes you have ever seen. The fact that the sterling notes had come out of the banks own ATM cut no ice. . I know they have been given these instructions by Central Bank, but it seems completely bonkers to me.

Thing is, how many of these notes will the Central Bank ever see? Generally they just circulate around. The bulk of my notes didn't even have any writting or marks on just the tiniest virtually invisible tear. The person in the bank would make a good sniper.

My £800 could have been pivotal to bring the lire back to 6 to the £

Seriously though, the only chance the Lire has of recovering, is bringing foreign currency in, so these petty rules lack common sense.

Regarding marked £ notes: I withdrew £ via the tellers at Creditwest Catalkoy a few days ago. Before leaving the bank, I checked them. Many were marked, and the marks were significant. I requested unmarked notes. They managed to find enough to give me, but it was a struggle and they did not like doing it.
