Yes, I tried that 10 years ago. HMRC told me that they know I live in Cyprus and not in Turkey and that as the part of Cyprus I live in is not recognized by the British Government (I found that strange as HMRC is actually in the UK and they recognized I live in Cyprus) the double taxation agreements with neither Turkey nor Cyprus could be put into effect regarding my pensions! The RoC were a little bit more helpful when I asked if I could have my pensions paid into a RoC bank and claim the double taxation, they simply answered - NO!

Hope I have been slightly more helpful than HMRC! Ask your pension people for the proof and don't forget to tell them where you live, not just Cyprus. Good luck and I hope you make it.

Depends on who your pension provider is. If any one/part of your pension is a Government (Military/Civil Service) pension then it is taxed at source automatically - those you can not do anything about, as far as I know and remain legal - unless you are in an area where a double taxation agreement is in force. If you are lucky enough to be in such an area then you can apply to HMRC for double taxation and they will tell you how to proceed. I do not know about private pensions as I never had enough free cash to get one - lol. But, I would first ask HMRC for advice on any taxation issues, they are the people who know and you don't want to fall out with them at all because they will catch you in the end!
