What are the thoughts of the forum regarding the value of the turkish lira going forwards. Will the measure announced continue to strengthen the lira or can we expect a reversal? Where might we be in 1 year, 2 year then 3 years time against sterling? Interested in your opinions and the reasons for those opinions?

I think if the economic measures that are being put into place work out and Turkey and the US get back on good terms then the lira will strengthen

History shows it will fall , I thought it would top 10 to the £, it made 9 and I think it will settle around 7. It wont certainly go back to 5.
Just my opinion

Here is a chart which shows how the GBP / TRY exchange rate has fluctuated over the last 5 years.
If you have a crystal ball and can predict how Geopolitical factors such as Brexit, Elections, Terrorism and International conflicts might affect the value of either currency in the future, then feel free to make a guess as to what will happen...
Your guess will be as good as anyone else's.
If you are intending to gamble on the exchange rate, then I have a simple piece of advice for you: -
ONLY BET WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE WITHOUT AFFECTING YOUR LIFESTYLE
...alternatively take one tenth of that amount and buy some Bitcoin

The lira could strengthen this week on the back of the Istanbul incident, The US will not want to fall out with Saudi over it too much money involved and too many US jobs at stake so the US will ask Turkey to take it on the chin as it were in return of help with Turkey's failing economy. Not my theory heard it on the tv and seems to make sense.
