I called there today, haven't been for a while, and saw that it is closed until further notice, very disappointed as always enjoyed bread etc from there. Does anyone know what has happened and will it be opening again soon. I hope both of the ladies who own it are ok.

They were not at Lambousa last week. I did hear something on the rumour mill but don't think.it's appropriate to post on a public forum!

It is usual practice when closing for a holiday to post a notice on the door to that effect so customers know when you are reopening?

The chemist we use always does & I do not think the proprietors are TCs anyway!

My understanding is that it has happened because of circumstances beyond the owners’ control.

I had some friends in there when officials came in checked the kitchens and closed them on the spot.

That was about a month ago.

Not always health dangers per se if a kitchen is closed. Often it is to do with power sockets or wall surfaces.
A notice was out on the door by Sonia to say they would be closed until further notice.
Looking forward to having their granary bread again soon.

It was to do with the way they were rolling out the dough and the amount of flour that was spread around and how food stuffs were stored in the fridge.

Well the gossip, train is in full flight and here I am adding to it.it appears it is not a hygienic problem at all.. From the font of all knowledge I have been informed that it is a discrepancy over a government document required in business that was not kosher. This is being attended to and easily resolved. I would not like the creditable of this fine establishment to be slaughtered. I would rather be hung for a sheep than a lamb. I hope I have got this right. They deserve to do well.

I cannot see how speculation of why it is closed helps anyone. Unless you actually know why, rather than a friend of yours was in there and told you or you heard from someone else who doesn't know either why post unsubstantiated gossip that could damage the reputation of the owners? Give the owners a break and see what happens. Jeez some people would have you hung draw and quartered on here.

Please do not speculate on the reasons for the closure.

Some expatriates on this island are a disgrace and make you ashamed to be British. The food lodge are waiting for paperwork!!
Hopefully they will be back to normal Soon. So unless you have the facts right I really suggest you keep quiet.
Rant over!!
