A friend had a large one in her bed it gave her a nasty bite.

Yes, I also encountered one. The " bite?" was very painful. They are also difficult to catch.

If your Google(?) centipedes there are some photos of some nasty little horrors, wouldn't like to get too close to them, that's for sure.

I have looked at Google and these appear to be millipedes

If you're Google them we definitely have millipedes
