Gordon Cochhran Home and his book 'Cyprus Now And Then'

I am a great fan of all Cyprus people history, especially pre 1960.
One of my favourite Facebook pages is 'Tales of Cyprus'. It is owned by a Cypriot whose family emigrated to Australia, where he was born. He is very interested in all of the people of Cyprus, especially in the pre 1960's eras. He is known for this and people give him all sorts of memorabilia and he has written many very wonderful family stories of both communities and some English. He often posts photos in the hope of finding out who the people are. He's also produced a book of all this, not sure if it is for sale yet, will check it out.
One thing he recently found was a book published in England by GORDON COCHRAN HOME - 'CYPRUS THEN AND NOW' - full of the most wonderful drawings of Cyprus when he travelled here in 1960 and I just managed to find a copy on Amazon.
This is what 'Tales of Cyprus wrote about him -
Not a lot is known about Major Gordon Home, especially about the time he spent in Cyprus during the 1950s. I did manage to find out that he was born in London on the 25th July in 1878. That would mean that he was in his seventies when he travelled around Cyprus researching for his book. In his younger years Gordon worked for a number of British newspapers as an illustrator and art editor. As an artist, he worked mainly in watercolour and pen and ink and exhibited frequently at the Royal Academy in London. During the First World War, he served as a Major in the Royal Army Service Corps in France and North Africa. Gordon traveled widely throughout the British Empire and the Commonwealth and was the author of many travel books including the beautifully illustrated ‘Cyprus: Then and Now’. Most of the book deals with the history of Cyprus before the British arrived in 1878. It is clear that Gordon had an academic interest in archaeology as he writes about the island’s monuments, fortifications and artefacts with flair and confidence. He is hoping that somebody knows more about him and I told him, that I would post all this here in the forum - I appeal to my Facebook audience for more information about this fascinating man. I would especially love to read about his tour of Cyprus in the 1950s when he spent considerable time creating his illustrations and gathering information for his book.
