Fugitive jailed for 7 years.

Wayne Smith gave himself up after living in NC received 7 years 10 months jail Julie Skelding jailed for 1 yr 10 months.

thanks for the info. I assume he got the higher sentence because he was driving?

Smith was convicted of dangerous driving and jumped bail, Smith and a friend had been racing when their vehicles hit the victim as he crossed the road, Skelding gave him a false alibi, they fled the UK before they could be sentenced. He said he returned to the UK to launch an appeal.

He will probably be out in less that four years....Is that what a life is worth?

WELL AT LEAST IT WAS QUICK SOMETIMES TRIALS TAKE AGES TO GET TO COURT.

Dont know what the maximum sentence in law is for dangerous driving and absconding bail . To me it seems quite a lenient sentence .
Cant put a price on human life, just hope the victims relatives feel there has been some sort of justice done.

Maximum is 5 yrs for causing death by dangerous driving, if he behaves he could serve just a third of his sentence. i agree it is lenient, the person he killed was dragged along by his car for 300m and he didn't stop!
