Can anyone please advise as we landed at Ataturk on time but on the wrong side it took 45 mins to get to the bus offload and 10 mins to get t the arrivals missed the connection to Ercan and put onto the next available 8 hours later

Good luck with that! We had a similar experience a couple of years ago, TA Heathrow to Ercan, the flight was delayed at Heathrow for an hour, no explanation given. Ercan flight scheduled to depart 1 hour after we arrived at Ist, obviously we missed it and waited around for the next 5 hours. I contacted TA by email who were only too pleased to pass me around lots of email addressees for several months until I got fed up. I also had to cancel a flight (giving them plenty of notice), I wasn't expecting my money back, only the Airport Tax - same procedure! Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

You can fill in a feedback form on the Turkish Airlines website. You will get a reference number. It may take several weeks but you will eventually get an answer. Don’t know if you will get any compensation but it’s worth a try.

Probably the worst airline in the world for communication. Its a nightmare getting anything from them! Even if you call at their office the staff are surely and no help whatsoever, good luck with that!!!

sorry but have to disagree with Mollie the cat, whenever I had had to call their call centre, I have only ever had courteous and helpful staff.

Did they feed you - they should have done, if not do you still have receipts, proof by credit/debit card. If you booked through your Amex card you will be due for an £200 compensation. Look at the flights originating in Europe compensation. Don’t know if TK are bound by it.

I have looked at Google and it appears that if it originated from the U.K. then they are liable for up to €600

Normally compensation is only paid for flights that originate in the EU and not connecting ones, such as yours , TK call centre staff can and do give differing information , It would be well worth visiting either their office in Lefkosa ( see map ) https://goo.gl/maps/7d7UXwnr82x

The affected flight did not originate in the UK though.

We had a flight delay with Turkish Airlines a few years back and was told we couldn’t claim because it’s a Turkish airline and not in the eu.

Last month we missed a connecting flight because a Turkish airlines flight was delayed from Ercan. Our flight with TA was delayed by 2 hours, meaning we missed their connecting flight at Istanbul. I contacted them to explain the situation and the stress it caused, there weren't any TA staff around to sort out a connecting flight, thankfully there was some guy that did it for us. We got an email approx 3 weeks later offering compensation of approx 500tl each, though we are yet to go into their office to claim it, so not sure how easy that process will be.

As I wrote earlier, you need to fill a feedback form in on their website. We have just done this for a flight in October. Ours was not a delay but a diversion caused by a mechanical problem which meant we missed the connection in Istanbul and were 6 hours late arriving in Manchester.we were given 400 euro each compensation. We did have to go to Lefkosa to collect it. The email said to ring office but we were unable to get through so had to go twice. Turkish airlines have this document.

As I said in my earlier post, don’t know if you will get compensation but fill in the form.
The staff in the office in Lefkosa were very helpful and friendly.

Good luck to you, hope you get something back. We missed out connection in Istanbul in 2017 and Turkish Airlines played hard ball and we ended up with visa costs only despite having a through ticket starting from Gatwick. Will never fly Turkish again. They were shockingly poor over the problem.

If you get no where contact Airhelp, I have just got money back from 3 years ago, they were very good.

I made 57 flights with THY last year, lost no luggage, got 1 cancellation (IST was snowbound) and missed no connections in IST Most of the flights I made connected through Istanbul. There are some issues, the airport is over capacity and a lot of the transportation is busses but to be honest I find the service pretty good and it rated 18th in 2018 SKYTRAX top 100.

This is the first time that there has been a problem but they are trying to get out of their legal obligations
.The first two complaints have been dismissed out of hand as" it,s not our fault" within 18 hours but now I have quoted the legislation and amount they have gone very quiet
