I have searched for info as I know this has come up lots of times, but alas nothing came up. Does anyone know where the BTHK office is in Girne, please. We registered a phone in Lefkosa the other day but only one person was taking the tax funds on each phone so queue was about two hours long. We elected to pay in Girne but don't know where the office is.

FM try the customs in the new harbour. They are on the far left next to the booking offices.

Karmels are correct, I paid mine in the port earlier this year, if your with Turkcell they'll give you a receipt to take to the TC office in Girne to unlock the SIM from further messages etc, don't know about other airtime providers. (Telsim)

Thanks for that, I know where the Turkcell office is. We've done all this before but completed everything in the office in Koskluciftlik, Lefkosa and used the Turkcell office in Dereboyu.

We managed to find the right office but alas the opening times for phone tax paying is only 0830 until 1100 and we missed it by three quarters of an hour.

Differs with each phone, more expensive the phone more the tax. I'm not sure what percentage they work on. Someone on here will know. A couple of years ago when they first started I paid 30TL on a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, I think.

We did the same. Office in Girnecommercial harbour, right hand side building, looks official.
We paid 40tl for a new Samsung J5 last year (value £150): they have a list of makes/year and charge according to the retail value. More expensive the phone then the higher the tax.
