We got ours done for 80TL in Lefkosa just around the corner from Metehan. A TC friend told me I was overcharged and should have only paid 60TL.

I assume everywhere if you are of the right ethnic makeup. My Pakistani gardener only paid 60TL. I would think that if you were to stand your ground and say I refuse to pay more than 60TL then you will get them done for that.

Just make sure the 60TL plates are legal, ie have an embossed Stamp in the blue area of the plate. I was told in the summer when I did mine that some plates were being sold without the embossed stamps. The stamp refers to the authorised seller of the plates. I was given a list by the office where I taxed my car.
I am sure other garages could get the business by offering to get them done, but they can only get the plates at The authorised garage/shop.
60TL seems strange as I thought the 100TL was set by the government as is the M.O.T.
I stand to be corrected though as things change.

My God, Mr Chinnery you have really muddied the waters as usual! All these outlets selling illegal plates right under the noses of the police and authorities.

Frontalman.
I said it had been pointed out to me that’ some’ people were producing plates without the embossed mark, hardly ‘all these outlets’
I was just pointing this out so people would be aware that there are possibly unscrupulous people out there. Obviously
I didn’t realise everyone in North Cyprus were very honest and would not think of fiddling the system or other people.

If you don’t want to take any notice of my information that’s up to you, just ignore it and let other people make their own minds up.

I understood that all the 'official' new number plate dealers charged 100 TL. Have we been fleeced?

I was quoted 50tl but when they came back for our 2 vehicles it was 200tl, so maybe this is where the confusion lies
100tl a pair and some outlets for ordering, fitting are charging a commission of 10tl.

No, if someone had used their brain cell a wonderful opportunity to check the legal status of the vehicle which has been missed. no tax insurance no plate

There would then be a problem finding a site large enough to store all the impounded cars.

There is a place just along from the old O'live Bar, between Isay Construction office and Hur Deniz.

Can't see any listing of approved garages in the lined website.

Does anyone know of an approved garage in the Girne/Zeytinlik/Karaoğlanoğlu area?

Cheers,

HH

We had ours done in Alsancak at the place between O'Live Bar and Hur Deniz last September - cost 60tl fitted. If you look carefully you will see a number embossed on the blue part, which is, I understand, a means of telling which official depot the plate was made. I have no idea whether this is fact or fiction. I suspect the high prices being charged now is because of the official legal date for having them,

We also used the same place as Sophie last week and the cost was 100tl fitted.
