Read it on another forum, another scam that unfortunatley some people still get caught out with. This one has certainly been around the block a few times and probably a spin off from some of the great Nigerian scams.

Would it be possible for someone to copy it to this forum so we know what you are talking about?

This is the scam E-mail sent to my junk box
I really hope you get this on time. I didn't tell you about my visit to (manilar Phillippines) with my family for a short vacation, but unfortunately we were robbed at the hotel where we lodged along with other folks. We did not bring our phones here and the hotel telephone lines were disconnected during the incident. So we have access to only emails. Please I'm going to need some sort of loan from you for us to relocate to another hotel close to the embassy andalso to get another flight ticket. Those thieves made away with our credit cards as well which is why this can't be resolved instantly. We have been to the Embassy and the Police here are not helping issues at all and our flight leaves tomorrow..Please,
Let me know if you can help us out?I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

this scam has been going around for ages. I have had several, - one from a friend working in lefkosia to say she was stranded in Spain. The only thing to do with this is to write separately to the person who seems to have sent the e mail, warn them that their e mail has been hacked and suggest they change their password. Then delete the e mail in question. do not reply direclty to it.
Just be on your guard.
there is little else that can be said about this, other than to confirm this is a scam used by many people in many instances. Also common sense says that the way the e mail is worded is unlikely to be the normal termi ology of friends./business contacts.

This is very concerning I have just had the following sent through with an E-mail contact details of a past contact I had in the TRNC not a company or business just an individual, somehow hacked the E-mail address.
Hi
I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, I'm sorry for this emergency and for not informing you about my urgent trip to (Philippines), but I just have to let you know my present predicament. Everything was fine until I was attacked on my way back to the hotel, I wasn't hurt but I lost my money, bank cards, mobile phone and my bag in the course of this attack. I immediately contacted my bank in other to block my cards and also made a report at the nearest police station. I'm physically ok and fine but I'm urgently in need of some money to pay for my hotel bills and my flight ticket home, will pay back as soon as i get back home.
Kindly let me know if you would be able to help me out so I can forward you the details required for a wire transfer via Money Gram..Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks

I had one from A one last week, just ignored it as I realised it was a scam, but it was very cleverly done and sounded real, was on their official email as well, but a phone call to the company resolved the situation.
