Over 60's who have not renewed your residency

Interested to know how many over 60's have opted not to renew their residency. Have you had any issues leaving or returning to the TRNC via Ercan or crossing to the South? Do you envisage problems crossing to the South without a valid residency stamp after Brexit?

Bullsnil, you appear to have "jumped on the thread" without really answering judyvins question.
judyvin, I opted not to renew my residency and am over 60, so far no problems crossing and re entering on foot or by vehicle.

Stopped renewing a couple of years ago, although we did continue beyond the age of 60, then felt there was no point, so saved our money. We leave 3 or four times a year, through Ercan, no problems at all. Don't cross to the South very often, but have never had any problems there either. Remains to be seen what happens after Brexit.

We have never had residency and are both over 60. We have been across the border on numerous occasions since May last year and just returned from a trip to the UK all without a problem.

I got my first stamp (The initial one that everybody is supposed to have by law) when I was 60 and retired here for good, that was 12 years ago and in the forlorn hope that one day the government would get around to having Permanent Residency then I would qualify because the rule used to be 5 stamps and you can apply! Now, at 72 I don't know if I will continue but then it is a small price to pay for peace of mind (that bearing in mind that the 60 no stamp required thing is just based on a handshake and can change with the wind) so I will probably just continue with it. On my last visit to immigration I was told that the stamps were useless anyway as I had never worked here and that is what counts if you want Permanent - so 12 years of stamps have no value I asked - NO - I was told, but that was the last government and they have slept since then - lol. I don't think there is any problem with not having stamps if you are over 60 but I have this untrusting itch in my mind that keeps me doing it!
As for the Brexit comment by Bullsnil "If you live here Brexshit will not really effect you unless you want it to", I find that to be untrue as a European Citizen at this time I can freely pass all over the Island and I fear that one item may change, regardless of having stamps or not. I have my pensions paid into a UK account and the amounts are totally out of my control and taxed at source due to them being Government pensions - pray tell me the effect on Sterling following Brexit and how I can stop the £ devaluation of my pensions then? Because I don't want Brexit to affect me, but like millions of other's, I have no control over the outcome of it!

No problems!!
We have been over here for just two years, been to the South via Metahan, Ledra Street &, Beyarmudu/Pyla without a blink from anyone. We fly back to the UK soon via Paphos, don't envisage any problems then either.
I have a Turkish driving licence which I lost and have just applied for another one, once again no problems.
Hope that helps
