Is it worth renewing my residency ?

Hi all
My residency is due in April and i will be 60 (gulp !) in November. I was thinking of not renewing my residency in April - i will be in/out quite often between April and November (Turkey/Uk/Roc) so i was thinking of just doing the 90 day visa on arrival (whenever i cross over/go in and out) until November and then i won't need one anyway.
Can anyone forsee any problems with this ?

The exemption of those over 60 is also not guaranteed.
It might also be wise to check on the Driving Licence situation. I believe you have to have residence to get a Driving Licence but whether you can renew an existing DL without a current residence permit I am not sure.

I've never had residency and am just under 60, I co-inside my return UK trips within the 90 day permitted, I also very occasionally go South with out a problem.
I have a TRNC driving licence, again, obtained without a problem.

When mine ran out last year and I wanted to go south they were going to fine me about 110TL because it had expired. So you may encounter problems.

I believe you will be charged approx- 110tl for every day you have not renewed your residency until you are 60 yrs old. and that the 90 days will not be applicable to you when exiting Northern Cyprus. Please verify this with the immigration department and please let us all know the result. Bevron.

The fine is and always has been, 1% of the minimum wage for every day. It can work out very expensive but you can pay it on exit - if you leave it till you return then the fine is doubled!

If you are not 60 until next November then I would play the game and renew your residency just one more time, regardless of whether you are travelling in and out. After that I would not bother. If you are over 60, own a property, have a few quid in the bank and behave yourself then you will be fine. You don't need residency to get/renew a driving license. If they ever change the goalposts then you just take out residency at that point. You will never become a citizen here unless you marry a Cypriot, so that is not a factor in my view.
