The 0650 flight was cancelled. Daughter stuck at airport, absolute chaos. Almost no help from staff, no English speaking staff. What little availability that is on other flights have not been given to people on connecting flights. I tried speaking to the Turkish airline help desk, sorry no English. Absolute disgrace.

I know this is probably no help now, but if the same situation arises again and for anyone else in the same situation,
once escorted out of the departure lounge and collected luggage, go straight to the Turkish Airlines desk and the staff there will attempt to put the passenger on the next available flight.

My wife was on the same flight, i had an email the night before, i phoned at 23.00 hrs to there help line and was told the flight was cancelled due to bad weather (cop out) i stated the 04.20 and the 07.20 were still scheduled After an hour of phone calls they transfered her to the 07.20 with a 4.5 hr wait at Istanbul for the connecting flight to Gatwick No apologies only the offer on a refund the Ercan - Istanbul portion of the flight, the rest she would lose and the return portion would be cancelled due to no show at Istanbul
It was only that i kept phoning and kicked up a fuss they transfered her She got to the UK and has the original return flight KICK UP A FUSS

Why do we Brits always assume everyone should be fluent in English? That said I have never had any problem finding someone at THY who could speak English.

Aircraft often fly convoluted routes and it is quite possible a flight which should have been here at some point could have been delayed or prevented from flying due to bad weather in another country.

Both planes were on the tarmac at Ercan one was cancelled one flew apparently there was a riot with people fighting to get on board the one that was going.
