Our Digiturk contract expires very shortly and we are strongly considering installing a one-off payment satellite system i.e. pay for equipment and installation, receive programmes thereafter with no monthly or yearly fee. Knowing many of you out there have experienced a variety of ups and downs of satellite systems, I would appreciate receiving any information and feedback that would help point me in the right direction for a good system.
Thanks very much and any experiences with satellite companies would also be appreciated as I understand some are not very good with after sales and service.
Thanks again.

I wonder what you want here. Nilesat, Hotbird and Turksat have very little in the way of free to air programmes in English and I don't think anyone will give you access to licenced channels for a one-off payment. You can check the free to air channels on:-

My system is from Uran in Lefkosa. Set up is 500tl for a standard Dreambox (or 900tl for HD) plus any dishes you need at 100tl per dish. You also need an internet connection of 2mb. The annual charge is 200tl for which you get HBO, Nova, Skyitalia and much more. This gives me about 40 film channels at least 1/2 of which are showing English at any 1 time, 50 sports channels including all UK premiership, loads of documentary channels etc.
There are occasional freezes (2 or 3 seconds) but not many and these cause me no concern - but that is me. I don't know if these freezes are service or internet based.
I have just happily renewed.
