whens is the thick asparagus in the markets here thanks ,, not the wild kind ......

That's what I always look forward to but last year they didn't have any, sadly. The only asparagus I could find was in Alphamega in the South and it cost around 6 or 7 Euros a bunch. OK for an occasional treat!

13roman58 that's the thin wild asparagus they sell. It is very bitter.

We bought 2 bunches from a lad yesterday at 20TL each on the roadside. It was freshly picked and I assume organic asparagus coz it was wild. We cooked and ate as soon as we got home. It it taste any bitter. There's none left now a day after picking. Yummyyummyumbum

I was taught by a Cypriot to cook the asparagus in olive oil with scrambled eggs. It is tougher than the cultivated kind, but not bitter when fresh
