Dear Forum members, I have been looking to book a flight to TRNC for April and the cheapest I can find is £504 via Pegasus to Ercan. I normally book a flight for this time of the year for around £200 ?
Can anyone see this changing and why so high now ?

Easter falls in late Apr (19th - 22nd) so schools will be on holiday - ergo flight prices will be raised over that period. Whilst you do not give dates of your intended travel, if it coincides with increased demand, you will pay more. Also, the value of the TL against $ (fuel cost pricing currency) has fallen, so Turkish-based airlines will raise prices to cover this, plus inflation has to be taken into consideration. A sad fact of commercial life and airlines need to make a profit and, therefore, should not be viewed as 'social carers' with any great sympathy for the travelling public. I hope you manage to get flights at a reasonable cost.

We normally travel with Turkish Airlines and have to say their prices now are extortionate. Visited UK at xmas for a week cost £679 normally pay around £500 for two of us return, Saturday before xmas, normally very busy weekend, plane was about a third full. Cost for a visit early April this year £707, not during Easter holidays. Looking for flights in September..... cost quoted so far almost £1,000........... so, much as I hate to do so, will be looking at Larnaca, have never used it but it seems the flights into Ercan are becoming unaffordable. Crazy prices.

The same thing happened with TA last year, they seemed to have tried silly prices for a while and then had to drop them back to normal levels.
I'm sitting tight for the moment

March £78 with extra leg room via Larnaca. June £250 via Ercan. The thing I noticed with Pegagsus is that the extend stop over times has got much longer in some cases, you really need to study the flight times now.

Recently booked with Atlas STN-ECN for £333 out late March back early April. It's the package that includes food and 30kg luggage allowance.

There was a report on the news the other day that Blue Air have stopped flying from the UK.

Blue Air haven't stopped flying from the UK, they have cancelled one route out of Liverpool john Lennon to Alicante, which I assume just wasn't profitable, they have increased flights and destinations from other UK airports this year.

As always thanks for everyones comments. I am looking to book for 7th April for 1 week. Price now £476 from £504. Hopefully will keep coming down . My holiday home is in Alagadi which is literally 20 mins drive from Ercan and I usually hire a car for the week. Makes no sense for me to fly out to Larnaca and then get a taxi to Alagadi. I have not worked it out however I do not think I will be saving much ?

Will be T.A. for me in future, got caught by Cobait last year, have booked Thomas Cook this year, they look to be going the same way. At least with T.A. there will be a plane to take where I want to go.

Whilst unsure of your departure airport in the UK, Atlas airlines from Stanstead for the dates you mentioned have quoted €475 return (£415 approx). I did not follow up on availability, but the flight times were reasonable. LCA to TRNC and return taxi fare - approx £100. İyi şanslar.

Just looked on "Lastminute.com" for the dates you said shows flights from £329.

I am very surprised people are booking flights after March, I am afraid when we are out of the EU the gc's won't let us cross the border, they only do now because they have to, I'm waiting to see what happens

Fly into Ercan then the RoC authorities will be none the wiser where you are, who you are and what you are doing.

Have you spoke to any of the taxi drivers? They bring non eu customers from larnaca to NC all the time. I’ve spoke to my regular taxi guy.

The point in question would appear to be (when flying OUT from Larnaca) whether there will be problems crossing from the north to the south - from my experience, checks have been performed when going north by TRNC officials - so, are they likely to cause aggro? If, when arriving inbound at Larnaca and IF asked by GC officials, how will they know whether I am going north unless I tell them?

A Turkish Cypriot driver was fined €250 for picking up a fare at Larnaca Airport without having a licence to carry fee-paying passengers, Greek Cypriot daily ‘Phileleftheros’ reported on Wednesday.

Will flying to/from Larnaca not depend on whether or not we will need a visa for RoC? That is where the sticking point may be. I believe RoC is not in the Shengen area so visa free travel will not apply. Like others have said I am not going to book anything through the south until we know what is happening on 29 March. Unfortunately Stansted is not an option for me flying to UK so have to go with dearer options. Wish more airlines from Ercan would fly to Luton, although I don't really want an additional change of plane.

This is why I will not fly to ROC ?
Taxi drivers at Larnaca Airport have complained of unfair competition from taxi drivers as well as employees of hotels and casinos from North Cyprus who arrange to pick up tourists from the airport to take them across the Green Line.
Yesterday, Nicosia district court fined a Turkish Cypriot €250 who picked up three clients from Larnaca Airport to take them to Kyrenia through the Metehan checkpoint for €80.
I know it's more expensive to go to Ercan via TA or Pegasus however why give the GC business when they have no respect for us

If we hit them in their pocket and hopefully UK tourists visit elsewhere then they will buckle. Economic sanctions are one of the most effective tools you have.

Why fuss about it yet. None of us know what will happen yet. If the wonderful PM of our Country cannot come to an agreement with other member states or her own party yet there is little point us second guessing. Speculation means nothing at all. Wait and see and then do whatever works for you.

Prices do seem to be all over the place. I have just bought a return flight with Turkish to Heathrow at the beginning of April for 400 quid. Could have got it for 360 but didn't want the return flight arriving Ercan at silly o'clock at night.

as far as i understood the problem with flights after a (more and more possible) hard brexit:
- both UK and EU are not interested to stop flights from and to UK (or EU) and have emergency plans till jan 2020 already.
- the problem is that UK based companies can not do inner EU flights any more. eg, Paris to Madrid.
that is very bad, as the idea that a flight UK- EU will go "back immediately" to UK is wrong. often an aircraft flies UK-EU and then EU to "somewhere in the EU".
thats why the one company founded a company in Vienna and transferred 130 aircrafts and another one wants to rise the EU shareholdership to more than 50%.
about visa (for EU or RoC): it is NOT how "they" (the EU) will "make it" more difficult for UK citizens.. it was and is the UK who (may) will make it more difficult for EU citizens.. that was a "brexit promise".
we all can expect that more or less excactly the same regulations will be introduced from the EU towards UK citizens.
you have no clue what the UK will introduce? well then, pls do not blame the EU (or the RoC).
i refer here to many politicians in the EU (national or EU) who say (till today) : it is time that the UK (gov) tells us what they want.
5 weeks to go...

If the RoC starts to cause problems for UK nationals using Larnaca and then crossing the border then I think the various airlines flying to Ercan will take the opportunity to increase their prices.

Could not hang on any longer ! Booked 7th April-13th April: Stansted to Ercan and return £400. Spoke to my mum last night who lives in TRNC and she tells me that my brother has booked via WIZZ airlines to Larnaca for £80 return ?

Thought I'd add my four pennyworth of information. We have someone coming over leaving 1st May from Stansted departing at 23.55 into Ercan 09.25 on 2nd May. With stop over in Istanbul of 2hours. Returning 11th May arriving Stanstead 23.45. She booked 13th January this year - price 330pounds return. Only 20kg luggage but choice of seat and sandwich both way with Pegasus. Under the circumstances I don't think that's too bad as Stanstead is by far and away the most convenient airport. for us.

Just booked a return from Ercan to Gatwick, TA (200GBP). Was curious, and also ecstatic to find there was a stopover in Islay, one of the lovely islands off the West coast of Scotland. I didnt know it was possible to land anything much larger than a drone there. Further investigation discovered that the new airport in Istanbul is indeed up and running - but some sites are still a bit behind with updating their 3 letter airport codes...... Sadly....
