Dress for an evening do

As I am generally dressed in jeans and boots, I am wondering where is the best place to go shopping here in the north for either a long dress or mid. I find being tall often long is mid on me. my last dress was in a sale in Debenhams £20 so I didn't care if it fell apart after one wearing.

I did think of having one made but the thought of patterns etc put me off

The ladies in the paper always seem to have lovely dresses but always very petite which I never could be

I have asked friends to check out KAR and Tulips too

Label Boutique usually have some very nice and reasonably priced evening/cocktail dresses. They are on the strip of shops opposite what used to be HSBC bank.

They have some absolutely gorgeous evening outfits at the Glad Rags KAR shop. Many only worn once or sometimes never, with matching bags and shoes (again some only used once) They change their display frequently and when possible are displayed on mannequins.

Glad Rags had some lovely dresses in this week, have a look, you can always get a tailor to nip and tuck if necessary.

You posted you have asked your friends to check out KAR and Tulips shops but what about us? The NorthCyprusCancerCharityTrusts TWO shops in Girne. Our Heartbeat shop is by the State Hospital and our smaller shop The Hut is just behind the main post office in Girne. Honestly we stock some lovely ''posh'' frocks so we are well worth a visit and you will always be greeted with warm smiles and we all just love to help! We have some very classy dinner suits, shirts and other accessories for the gentlemen.

Sorry NCCCT, should have mentioned you as well. I agree, you do have some great stuff. You don't have to be a stick insect to wear them either!!!

Thank you everyone, both my friends have advised all the clothes are for bean poles, even though lots in stock.
maybe next year!

One did suggest NCCCT as her friend has suggested they may have something for the larger lady.

Anyway Friday is the day I am being taken out of my normal environment

Will it be a new item or one of my trusty 3 dresses?

You know what you could have done. I sometimes go to a local tailor/dressmaker and have a dress made. Usually take a style that I really like, choose a different material, be it winter or summer and have a new one made. Not expensive and at least you know you have the correct fitting.

Yes I had heard this but since christmas i have been trying to lose weight so far 22 pounds ! but the main reason has been time work has just consumed my life with Bellapais mud and other customers having leaking roofs.

I have been advised the ones in Ozankoy have patterns you can choose from too.

If you PM me with your size I might have something suitable for you from my wardrobe....they are generally 20/22 size though so might be too big for you ( I have lost weight now so too big for me) Regards

Thank you, still a long way to go to smoking days weight but already i feel a lot better.

Purchased 2 dresses, liked 3, I was rather surprised when you get out the car and walk, something hubby never does, the amount of small shops in Girne I would not even consider going in as you just don't notice them.
I just wish though i was that beanpole as the choice was fanastic. size 6 and 8 are very popular sizes

Actually I'm not over fond of bean poles. Its OK for teenagers and the early to late 20's but when you get to your 40's and above, women (at least in my humble opinion) tend to start looking haggard and develop turkey necks if they are unlucky.
