Don't you just love 'em. Yesterday I went to Girne to pay my fine. All was very polite and correct, and then he looked at the 3 miles over the limit and he grinned and saying "It wasn't your day was it? Don't worry the 5 points will be taken off in 15 months, it doesn't last long"
BTW, there must have been thousands of files with paperwork for fines waiting to be paid. In case anyone queries it, you can pay by cash or card.

Did you find out when the points are issued, as in date of offence, date of receiving fine or date of payment, or any other that I haven't thought about?
I do find that most of the police here have a sense of humour, and are very friendly.
You can pay by card at any police station, but they only take cash payments at major police stations, such as Girne, Famagusta, Lefkosa, Iskele, not sure of west side police stations.

I paid at main Girne offices and I could have paid with cash or card. He assumed I was going to pay by card - Cardplus I suppose.. As to points, like an idiot, I totally forgot to check on when points are scrapped. It should have been the first question I asked shouldn't it? But I did get the impression it's from when I paid yesterday. Seems more logical doesn't it, rather than going back to last November (at least from their point of view)

Thanks Sophie. Am just as bad, I forgot to ask also, when I had my first speeding fine and 5 points ever a few months ago. I did find out that that it's 100 points on your licence to get you disqualified. The number of points you get, is dependent on how much over the limit you are speeding. We were both obviously on the lower scale. Reckon I must have about 11-12 months left then. Have been extremely careful ever since, and don't care if folk flash (their lights) at me.

When I was done a few years ago it took them 9 months to tell me
They did say that the time of the offence was the start of the points period

Oh that's interesting Wanderer, thank you. In that case, my points should disappear a bit quicker then, as it took them a few months to deliver my speeding ticket.
