Hi All...………...New to this but can anyone recommend a good builder/paver.
We have a property in Tatlisu and the swimming pool area is only partly paved.
Would like more paving to keep the weeds down!

Thanks
Tony

Ive just had 120 meter laid .they dug down 150mm. 50 mm hardcore. 100 mm concrete with steel reinforcement. I bought the tiles .they paid for everything else 12000 tl 120 tl per meter. My tiles cost 5600 tl.

Ive used this guy for mutiple jobs he has 15 to 20 personnel and just does tiling inside outside marble the lot.

He doesnt speak english fortunatelytely my wifes turkish !
Just wanted to give you an idea of price per square meter.nothing to do with english or turkish . Its 35 tl per meter to lay the tiles for bathroom kitchen floors etc . The rest in this case was the foundations .

I was speaking to a local in genc yesterday and he was telling me had a friend who was going to only charge him 25 tl but now 35 tl per meter for laying is the standard price plus foundations etc. if your paying more thats up to you.

Mr Gates
I beg your pardon...i certainly was not commenting on you or your prices.
It is generally well known if we speak with an English accent we get charged more .
A month ago I was charged £100 to change three tiles...i was told it was because he had used expensive adhesive...it was my expensive adhesive...trouble was I had to take it on the chin as I needed this English guy to follow the original job through

£100 is c 750 tl i just sent my tiler to a flat i have in kyrenia he sent three guys i wentvwith them they where there for 4 hours . They laid 20 meter of tile 1 meter high along a hallway etc . I bought the adehsive grout tiles and metal surround. They chaged 800 tl this included an extra 100 tl for petrol and travel as they come from famagusta.

You should not class all as the norm i have given advise for free even when traveled miles . It has saved some people a fortune The Turks would not do that

Gates you last post is completely contractdictory . In the same post you claim you shouldnt class all as the norm. Then you yourself go on to say the turks wouldnot do that !

I have plenty of turkish builders etc who have given me advice for free. There is a proportiion of both expat and turkish workers who target uk and other foreign nationalities for higher pricing. I think that is an undisputed fact.I dont kniow you or your prices etc so i would not comment . All i can say is that im my experience in general i cannot find expat uk people who compete with the normal local prices . Im in the fortunate position to live near famagusta where there are less expats to take advantage of and my wife is turkish and we have a large network of friends etc so can find and communicate with locals.

I dont hear of any uk expat builders being employed by locals - because their rates are too high. Most people are using the british builders because they dont t know anybiody else and they can communicate with them thats only my opinion of course !

Iim just adding to my post as it can be frustrating dealing with turkish people even with my wife translating . I can understand why people might prefer to use english speaking builders and like any market people have different budgets and requirements and theres room for differentt services here .
