The Republic of Cyprus does not recognise the self-declared ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ in the north of Cyprus, nor residence permits issued by the administration there. After the UK leaves the EU, the Republic of Cyprus intends to treat UK visitors, including those travelling to or from the north, as other non-EU nationals for visa purposes, unless they are registered as resident in the Republic.

The current practice in the Republic is for non-EU nationals who do not require a visa to be admitted for 90 days, and for passports to be stamped accordingly. If that happens, the Republic of Cyprus authorities may count time spent in the north of Cyprus towards the 90 day visa free total. If you overstay, you may potentially face difficulties at the airport on exit or re-entry.

That looks interesting

Looks like we won,t be able to go shopping in the south or use their airports from then,

It will be a large financial loss to them and inconvenient for those of us that live here.

Certainly looks like those permanently resident in the TRNC will have to use Ercan to fly in/out.

Swallows, friends or visitors to the north staying less than the 90 days should still be able to enter via the ROC and cross each way as normal.

Not unexpected.

So how do you get a visa to allow us to stay longer than 90 days?

Good information in the "snippets" but still worthwhile reading the whole thing. I suppose it depends on how you interpret the meanings but the rule of 90 days in every 180 days still stands regardless - or at least it does on the RoC Government web site - unless of course you apply for a kind of multi visit visa and then different rules apply, as does the price.

As it stands - if anything stands in this world of stupidity - then swallows had better check and double check before they find they are in the same boat as people who live in the North on a permanent basis, it is not as clear cut as one would assume.

At the very least and regardless of when the end date of EU-ship is the people who live here will get an extra 90 days to go South and stock up on all the things that the people in the UK are buying now, just in case Brexit actually does happen.

Too hard to figure it all out and get it in print to present to the most officious RoC border control officer at this time - lets just wait and see!

Will it be arrest for illegal entry if you can via Ercan and pop over to the South

The way this government of ours is performing at the moment we will be in the EU for the foreseeable future so don't worry ...carry on as normal.

In case of a hard brexit you can not arrive in ecn and pop over to the south. No visas are given at the green line.
But it seems turtle is right...
