Only three days until the Fun Run!
Come and help us to raise funds to protect the wonderful Sea Turtles, Birds and other wildlife of northern Cyprus. Everyone is welcome whether walkers, joggers or runners, its a fun day so come and join in.

There are lots of prizes to be won, from meals for two , to framed wildlife photos donated by the photographer and prints too.

It is 15 tl to register for adults, children enter free of charge. You can even collect sponsors from family and friends, all to help protect our wildlife.

So get out those running shoes or walking boots and join us on Saturday. Everybody is welcome.

Soner has also offered to set a website where people who wish to help by making donations will be able to donate on the new site via paypal. The site will be set up over the next few weeks, it will be a charity site. We will keep you posted on its progress.

Phil, glad I could help in some way, and avoid a run! The turtles would be faster than me.

On dry land you may even win a gold medal against the Turtles Soner, never do yourself down. It would be a totally different story though in the sea, as they seem to fly through the water like a plane! Most beautiful and graceful, I just love watching them underwater!

Wish I had thought of that. For me and the Star Cyprus girls, it is all bananas. Phil has got us into sponsoring the bananas for the runners. Just think,if you hadbeen thereSoner, you could have had one.

All for a good cause, James will be in fancy dress but he has given up as going as a banana now, we don't want a whole bunch there do we. Well yes and no.

Being a business man, I see a niche in the market for Mardo....... selling Banana Splits!

The moderator is telling me that we are off topic! Thats it back to the Fun Run, is any else coming in fancy dress?

I normally do my best to be fancy. I do have a clown outfit but as virtually no one else is coming in Fancy Dress I felt I might be a bit of an idiot.
I mean, is James' dad going in fancy dress, or his mum.
Of course Ido have 200 safety pins in my possession - should I do a Versace Dress style mitt safety pins? Bet the weather won't be warm enough.
s to the Banana boat song - teach me the words and i wll sing it, but don't think I canrival the musicians who are coming.
I will just be there - but I might do the gold eyeshadow - but not bodypaint.

Is it to late to compete? and how far is it ?

The Fun run is at 11 am this Saturday 7th. April 2012.
The run is 5 km and you would be most welcome to join in.
It is 15 tl to register, this can be done on Saturday but you must be there at least an hour before the start of the race, to ensure registration.
All monies raised go to The Turle / Bird and wildlife charities.
If you want to collect sponsors I can e mail you the form. Contact me on philyesil@gmail.com asap.
There are lots of prizes / medals/ certificates to be awarded.
It should be a real fun day out and for a good cause!

If you can arrive in good time to allow us to get you registered for the run please that would be great.
We will be there from 9 am just by the main gate / gate house of the Chateau.Don;t forget to bring your sponsor forms.

No sorry i can't say if Negative Nick will be there, think there was a flight connection problem from Thailand and they wanted too much excess baggaage for the Morris ITAL.

Fantastic turn out for the first Fun Run, we were delighted by the support every one gave us. A very very big thank you to everyone who turned up to help, walk or run. A very very big thank you to all those kind people who sponsored, donated money or prizes and made this event a big success. We are still waiting for some sponsor money to come in before we can annouce the total figure raised.
Well done to all those who won prizes.
If any of you came in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in your group and did not collect your prize,please contact me so that we can award the prize / medal certificate to you.

Happy to hear that it all went well. Well Done!

Personally, i think a HUGE vote of thanks to proud parents of james, namely Phil and Ayse. They spent hours and hours trying to think of everything to ensure all was well, and apart from some hiccups which can be avoided next year, it went fantastically well. Just the logistics of ensuring the runners had a clear path when people wanted to bring cars in and out, was a challenge. I heard a complaint of someone who arrived at noon with two babies and of course could not bring their car in, and there was no steward there. But very difficult indeed to think of everything for a first. I think it was really fantastic and HAS to be repeated next year, but I think it should be a stand alone event and not wrapped round anything else.

But a big three cheers for the Greens! Definitely the Greens have it.

i was working so could not attend, but everyone said how busy it was and at least it was a nice day for it

It was very busy right up to the start of the race. Thanks everyone. Hopefully we can do another Run next year!
