I have often driven past and thought what a nice place it looks-Is it just wine drinks wise or do they do food as well?
Any experiences anyone?

Hi Philoz,
He does Tapas and Spanish influenced food. The menu changes from time to time.
All the usual drinks are available.
Eating is not compulsory!!!

Arockingace, how very unprofessional to "knock" other entertainers because they use backing tracks. We have seen Gavin and think he is average. However, you should go see Mr Snakes undoubtedly the best act in the TRNC and with "backing tracks". A one man band/orchestra in our opinion mind. Why someone on the East of Girne doesnt have this man to play for us is beyond me and many. Allen

Allendavies on reading Arockingace's thread I don't think he actually knocked any other band or performer. He simply stated that the music was totally live. Some people prefer this, some don't, some don't mind either way. Barry is very good, but is a very different style of music and entertainment. Also Bacchus is quite small and so totally live music is much more suited to that particular venue. There is room for all styles in this country and all tastes. Just because you are so obviously a huge fan of Barry's, does not mean that he is the only one who can give a good performance ( I am not knocking Barry in saying this as he is very good at what he does and very professional, but not everyone is into loud rock music and I'm sure Barry himself would agree with that).

We are lucky in the TRNC as we have lots of good bands and solo artistes. But those that really like live music whether it be individuals or groups should really spread their wings and try to get to see some of the Turkish Cypriot musicians/bands that are playing all over the North. In my musical travels I have seen some amazing acts and had some amazing nights. If you want to see a group that never fails to get a crowded venue of 400 plus people up on their feet then go see Grup SOS. This group for me typifies what Turkish Cypriot rock music is all about. Oh and they do play a lot of western rock as well.

allendavies, I have seen Barry at Sohz Bar Catalkoy, so he has played on the East side. Can't say he was exactly my cup of tea, not that I am knocking what he does.

You really are missing the point. The point of my original post was to ask Arockingace (whilst checking previous posts realise this is probably Gavin himself) had to express a personal dislike to entertainers who use "backing tracks" just because he does not. I was not knocking his performance but find him a very average strummer and singer (bordering on boredom) and certainly not in the same league as some who use backing tracks to enhance their overall sound for entertainment quality. I simply pointed out that our preference was Mr Snakes who does use backing tracks which was the point of the original post ! Halffull I dont really care if you saw Mr Snakes at Sohz Bar wherever that is (expect you mean Soyz) as we did and he regularly packed the place out and most venues he plays which is testament to its own. Allen. PS I am not a friend but have spoken to him on many occasions and find him charming and professional in every aspect.

Apologies for not replying sooner. It has never been my intention to "knock" other performers or their use of backing tracks! They are not my cup of tea but each to their own. That is my own opinion and I think I'm entitled to say so? All I wish to do is offer an alternative in stating that I do not use them. I mean no offence. As for Barry. I am on good terms with him and hope we will be working together soon!

Music is a very personal thing.
One persons idea of great music is banging heavy rock, another's is acoustic guitar played in an small enclosed place.
Now I haven't yet been in Bacchus(but I intend to)but from what I have seen from the outside it lends itself perfectly to the solo instrumental.
Not some heavy metal that someone has created on their PC.
