Hello
The other day..or should i say night,my car got towed away.i parked on double yellow lines yes but was like after midnight, early morning.Went to police station and told me i had to pay 200TL. Only had 100TL on me ,after pleading with them they let me pay half and i told them id be back to pay the other half, which i have not done yet. There was no fine,no paper nothing.. What happens if its not paid. Its the first time anything like this has happened.
Thanks Everyone

If they released the car against your word that you would go back and pay the other half of the fine - go back and pay the other half of the fine.

Good to see that the Police are being proactive.

judging by the number of cars parked on double yellow lines, pedestrian crossings, the wavy lines either sides of those crossing I am very suprised that they actually took action!

Please , please, Johnny, take hedge-fund's advice and go back promptly and pay the rest of the fine. Twenty years ago life was so much easier and such concessions were often made because the Cypriots believed Brits were honest. Sadly over the last 15 years or so they have bee disillusioned, do not add to that by failing to keep your promise, or the next person (who may be frail or vulnerable) will not get such a concession.

Do maintain the rags of what remains of the Ancient Brits' good reputation. For goodness sake if you cant aford 100TL for your mistake I wlll pay it for you.

PS And I wont even ask what you were doing in the Harbour area in the early hours:? (joke)

PPS Anyone know what that would have cost in the UK?

Just sheer vulgar curiosity, Johnny,! I wondered what there was to do in the Harbour at that time of night : I never even though of just sitting, with or without a drink, enjoying the ambience. Must be lovely but unfortunately my mobility problems make it impossible for me to get there without further swelling the Police coffers! so I will have to continue to settle for my own garden, which is lovely in its own way so I am not complaining.

Do please pay the fine as soon as you can.
