Is it possible to renew Residency in absence, e.g. if you were Hospitalized, could your spouse do it for you with the necessary papers as hers is due at the same time?

It might be possible. When I broke my ankle and was in hospital my husband took all my paperwork etc and they accepted it. They did say next time he had to bring me with him. Maybe ask the doctor or the ward sister if you can phone them to say your wife is in hospital.

It must be possible as the girls at the driving school used to do it for people.
My husband was able to renew mine at the same time as his, when I was ill, a couple of years ago.
