Whilst walking this morning I came across an approx 2” long waxy cream caterpillar type creature it was about as thick as my little finger. As it was walking on the road I moved it hopefully to a place of safety but am intrigued as to what it is can anyone enlighten me please?

I have seen them too-I think it could be a Cicada grub-

Thanks for info that is exactly what it looked like. Weird that I have never seen one before considering the millions of cicadas we had was it the summer before last?
