One of my grandsons has been bought a state of the art new Record Player and I have a number of original, classic 60's and 70's plus some 12" singles he would love, BUT I need to get them transferred to CD's first. Anyone know of any one who could do this?

It is fairly straight forward if you have the right kit. Plug your source (record player) in to your computer using audio leads (most commonly 2 phono jacks on record player end and single 'headphone' jack in the computer. Then you use recording software on the laptop, play the record, hit record record on the laptop software. Getting it from the laptop to CD is also relatively simple if your computer has a cd writer in it, then it is just a case of recording (or converting) the music in the right format and saving it to cd in the right format.

Erol's link mentions a program (for recording) named 'Audacity' - this has been recommended by many people/magazines etc for many years; I've used it with success for some time - it can be downloaded from
here.
(There was one (IMO) even better - 'Matchbox6' - but this never worked after Windows 98...... )

Thanks guys for your recommendations but records are here and player is in UK. Would like to put on to CD's before I lose them completely. Grandson has been threatened with guillotine if he even thinks of selling them and he was horrified that I should even suggest it.
