Esentepe beach pollution

Lapping the beach today I saw pools of bright yellow water. Not healthy, I thought, for swimmers or my dogs.
The pictures do not show how brightly coloured the water was nor do they show the slick of something yucky, some 30M offshore, stretching across both bays. It was very noticeable through polaroid glasses. I guess this is from a spillage from the power station even though I saw no black oil. Might it be sewage from the local hotels?
BEACH CLEANUP 22/05
The turtles are arriving so I am organising a beach clean for Wednesday 22 May. There is not a huge amount of general jetsom but there are many chunks of the abandoned pontoon - see pictures. I hope the mayor will lend some machines and muscle as these are difficult items to dig out of the beach and empty of sand.
ALL WELCOME nb no dogs after 15th May.

Is it not algae? Quite hard to make out from the picture so might be wrong. It would explain why another poster has posted about Esentepe beach too.

Shocking about the rubbish mind. That is not locals, that is industry. Very sad, especially knowing that it will probably not get cleaned up.

It's not industry but the failed attempt to construct a jet ski pontoon.. No doubt another vanity project a town with rubbish roads was 'needing' like a hole in the head.

Spot on Groucho....I don’t know what’s going on in Esentepe-the main road and foot paths leading into the village are a disgrace and we haven’t seen any council workers now for months.

Art, go to the beach - they are all there. As to the approaches to Esentepe, come and see our roads/kerbs in Glass Bay View, Bahceli - which we attempt to maintain as there is no visitation from the Beledisye - I doubt the Baskan even knows where we are.

Hi Tom,
Good to hear from you.
I quite often visit the beach project and I’ve yet to see any of the local council worker on the site.
The only work being done in the village is the daily road sweep any work outside of the village is not being done.
It’s such a pity that little is being done to help promote a lovely area.

Seems to me that the Baskan is more interested in painting yellow lines in the village. There was few places before this for visitors to the village to park, now I suspect they just won't bother to stop, therefore less revenue for the local businesses.

Whilst just on the fringe of the original post, and I think the expats living in the Esentepe area have an opinion of the Başkan's and his council's priorities and achievements, I wonder what the local TC majority view of him/them is? The locals did re-elect him quite recently after all!

Part of the bad road between Bahceli and Spice Garden is being repaired as we write. Not the dip near the Coconut but the more recently dip in the road. It was quite dangerous.

Not sure what time it started but it happened earlier on today judging from the images on Facebook.
Absolutely fantastic effort from the school kids involved. Shame it takes a bunch of school kids to clean up the mess mind.
Edit
Sorry.... that was a different beach. Esentepe is 9am on the 26th may. What a fantastic initiative.

Couldn’t see anything about the cleanup on the 22nd.
Credit to everyone who gets involved with these clean ups. A truly rewarding experience for the environment, soul and entire community.

The beach clean will start at 9 but come when you can.
The beach is behind Tempo and is the eastern part of the bay. Apart from general rubbish we are hoping to get machinery to uplift buried pontoon modules.
Don't forget gloves, drinks and suncream. Rakes and similar items will also help.
In anticipation, thank you.
