Fly etc deterrent

Just bought at PESTAWAY fly, and other creatures (even cockroaches) deterrent and it is marvellous! We have a new conservatory and had loads of flies who liked it too - plugged this appliance into a socket and have not seen any flies since!!! Well worth the 44TL price tag at Poundland (by-pass one). If I remember correctly, it was in or around the garden/tools area.

Oh Holly, please don't mention ants. We had trillions of those miniscule ones last year and they ate their way through the house and all food etc. Inside the fridge, cooker, dish washer etc. I'm terrified of seeing them again. I could actually hear them behind the wall sockets and plugs, it was simply horrible.

Clove essential oil certainly helps with ants. A few drops in a spray bottle with water added, spray around areas where they are getting in. I do around doors, windows. I add some to my worktop spray which has other essential oils in, so that the counters and tiles, cupboards are always getting some clove oil. Been doing this for a few years and so far so good.
The clove oil kills the little blighters. Plenty articles on the web, but here is one. https://mommypotamus.com/7-ways-get-rid-ants-naturally/

You can get the essential oils at pharmacies here and Erulku also stocks a range.

Yes, although it does not look exactly like the Amazon one, it is the same. Yes it does ants, mozzies, flies, cockroaches etc etc - one unit covers up to 300 metres! We are amazed that something actually does work, hence my original post. I am wondering myself if it will work on those tiny little ants which come through the plugs etc - for the cost here, certainly worth a try.

Just back from Poundland on the bypass - went for Pestaway - sold out! Assistant told me they re-stock their shelves tonight and there might be more available - so near and yet so far, lol.

Sooo sorry to hear it's sold out at present but not surprised! I have two dogs and two cats so made sure it stated harmless to household pets. I think it should work on sand flies, can't see why they should get away from the 'rays' - I intend getting one for kitchen and also for garden gazebo - so if anyone gets to know, please state if the shop has them when restocked.

If it helps anyone, I got mine from Jumbo last year, in the south, I'm sure they will have them again this year, if you going over of the border.
We had a lot of flies too, as soon as I plugged it in I noticed a difference, we were going to buy fly screens, no need now.

Over several years, back in the UK we've had a few wasps' nests in our house (each time in the loft or under the eaves) - each time, dosed (killed off) and nest removed, only to return a couple of years later - just learned a couple of weeks ago that once again we have the $*&%^/unwanted lodgers - so, when we go back, get them removed again - and I'll put one or two of these pestaways in the loft....
See if THOSE will discourage them......

One thing I have noticed today we normally have a garden full of bees but today not one so could this be the reason. I will switch it off during daylight hours and see if they return

were they pest attack and not pestaway. pestaway were 44tl. any chance of posting a photo of them
convinced we are talking about 2 different product. hence name variation and price variation

Susiesusie - same as Ozankoys - but they have obviously realised a run on them and put the price up!! double the original is a bit much though - however, the appliance does work so I think it is worth the inflated price. Perhaps I should not have spread the good news!

Slightly less flying about since we've bought it but not totally effective
BUT BEST BUY 9TL £ plastic hands on long reach fly swatters excellent and kept the wife amused smashing the pesky things
Also stopped the foot prints on the wall from her slippers

I am surprised to hear some do not appear to work - obviously it cannot 'beam' through concrete walls etc but assume, Terry2366, that your's is positioned upstairs where your mozzies are? It does not mention Sandflies, by the way, but they are usually in and around the bottom of bushes and trees, and the makers do say 'not to be used outside' - maybe because of bees ??? or perhaps it won't work outside of walled areas. We have a conservatory with big opening at front and lots of open side areas (sliding windows) and the appliance has been marvellous, hence my first post.

Niceone - the cost from Amazon works out at about the price originally in Poundland - good luck with those - if they are all for your house, you shouldn't have anything living!!

I got the last one on the shelf today. It was in the gardening section the next row to the solar lights and the Pest attack lamp. They are up to 95 tl now. So expect them to be over 100 when they restock.

Mine seem to be keeping some most away defernat reduction . Thing is if a fly is diving into yor house from long way away it anit going to know till it hears it . Who knows or speaks fly . Cant get it on Google interpreter so stuck always . IT HELPS THATS THE MAIN THING could put a comment in the house of lords perhaps they could decide on that one . Or take it to No 10 she might be able to advise on that one . Then something she has done will be a move forward or a debate she could win

I was looking at some on Amazon called Pest Warrior. They have a 60 day money back guarantee and it does state it can take up to 3 weeks to work on mosquitoes, doesn't seem to specify any time limit on other insects.

Bought a PestAway Rodent and Fly Repeller from Mr Pound Plus last month for TL95.
It worked for about 3 - 4 days then stopped.
Took back to Mr PoundPlus who noted that they didn't have any more in stock but would get their technical dept. to have a look at it.
Just been back to PoundPlus to be informed that the technician couldn't fix it and that the item wasn't covered by any type of warranty and couldn't be returned. Also no credit note could be given!
Result...TL95 out of pocket!

Further to my post (#13, May 20) - now back in UK (having ordered pestaway from Amazon just before leaving Cyprus), I've discovered my latest "wasp" infestation is actually honey bees (a neighbour two doors away also has a visitation!), so, as they are not bothering me, do so much good and are widely at risk, the bees are welcome to stay and NO pestaway plugged in the loft - however, I've put one in the kitchen, and there are no unwanted bugs, flies, etc. now.....
(A couple of units will be coming with me next time...)

Well done, important to protect bees of course. Our Pestaway is still working really well in conservatory so I was sorry to hear that Jayceebee had a 'duff' one. I am still looking for another for the garden gazebo instead of the ghastly blue light zapper we had there!
