Water Meters what does error 5 mean

We have a water meter and error 5 shows up, and no water can anyone tell what this means?

Have you put your meter card in and pushed the button? Has your card got enough tonnage in credit? If that doesn't work, the next explanation is if you haven't used any water for circa 3 weeks the meter auto-switches off. In which case you phone the phone number inside the meter cover or on it and someone will come round and reset it.

Put your card in and keep the button pressed continuously for some time and it should reset. If not call number on meter.

As long as meter is operative even if you have used all your water paid for by putting card in and pressing button for 45 seconds it will give you a three ton reserve.
