Yes. Though possibly that term isn't used.
Friends of ours had a devil of a job to get Turkish, non paying tenants out of their flat.
In the end a sympathetic policeman told the owners when the tenants were out and suggested they changed the locks PDQ!

If you give the keys to a tenant then you give away all your rights.
Actual squatters could be dealt with by a baseball bat .

I was thinking about a long while ago if you occupied premises in the uk for 10 years I think it was you could claim it as yours. I was wondering if it was the same here.

On 1 September 2012, under Section 144 of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012, squatting in residential property was criminalised by the Government, punishable by up to six months in prison or a £5000 fine, or both. The same year saw the first successful prosecution for squatting, resulting in a 12-week jail sentence. However, squatting in a commercial building is still not a criminal offence.

Why presume?
No disrespect intended, but a quick 'Google' would have answered that question far faster than waiting for someone to respond...
- and I did Google it, and I'm not telling you what I found out!

That’s why I asked, Smart Bottom!!!
I did Goggle it, found U.K. legislation, and wondered why it was quoted in a topic about squatters’ rights in the TRNC. Perhaps the poster knew that there was similar legislation here, and since I’m not the Fount of All Knowledge that some people seem to be (yet!), I posed the question.
So wind yer neck in
