Any fines in place to deal with litterbugs in TRNC?

Just read an article about a clean-up operation at Glapsidese Beach on Sunday 15th April organised by Magosa Youth Centre. I remember seeing other clean up activities taking place not too long ago, and realise that there is a big problem with people littering in the TRNC. I was wondering whether there were any fines in place to deal with littering and if so are they being enforced?

Not as far as I know. That is why we have al these clean ups done by volunteers. I expect there is something in the Law book about it, but no one ever seems to be fined. Does anyone else know anything I wonder.

as we all know the litter in the trnc is a joke and sadly no one who can do anything about it, seems to give a stuff.

I think that this should be persued with government, I am sure they would like the extra cash generated from a nice heavy fine. Can we somehow try and get the ball rolling? Anyone interested?

Ideas on how? Maybe we could get a petition up that you, soner, can present when you are over here! I honestly think that apart formk apathy, with insufficient police force, it is difficult. Do you take photographic evidence. One sees litter thrown out of a car and can take the numbe rplate, but, without hard evidence, it is one word against another. But ...... ideas?

Well, speed cameras are sprouting up everywhere, maybe the controllers can look out for road litterers, and get their number plate details. The driver could be fined who in turn would warn his passengers before going on their journey.

A while ago in the paper fly tippers were reported to the local council and police. Action? Nada as normal.

Not quite deniz. Haluk of Kibris Star was responsible for Alsancak Belediye being fined. We did not write that in the paper, but things do happen which redress some of the balance. Alsancak are now tilpping only biodegradable rubbish down the ravine! So do not despair. It is very slow going here, but good things do happen.
And I like soner's idea of using the speed cameras tolook out for other offences, because I reckon that chucking things out of the window could be deemed to be 'dangerous driving'.
any other ideas?
