TV under guarantee - cannot repair Q

Hi Hoping someone can help.
We purchased our TV in Sept 2018 and it has now developed a fault. Engineers came - took photos of the fault (which is on the picture/screen ?) and took the TV away and said it would be fixed and returned in about 3 days.
Day 8 we went into the shop and asked about our TV. Still not fixed but shop offered to "loan" us one until it is fixed. 2 days ago they arrived with a TV to loan us. We asked how long before we get out TV back - They --- yes you guessed - shrugged and said Big Problem to fix not sure when it is coming back.
What i would like to know is IF it cannot be fixed are we entitled to a new replacement ? How long should i wait before asking for a replacement new one - I need to know before i go into the shop as i fear they will just say "Keep the loan TV" - which is not the same model (it is the same brand) nor same colour and we have no idea how old it is either.
Can i insist on a new replacement ?

You should let Forum know where you bought the TV then you can get advice. I know quite a number of stores that would definitively give you a replacement, but I also know of stores who would most definitely NOT give you one.

We had a similar problem, the screen on our Philips TV 'went' during the World Cup. It was 6 months out of guarantee, i. e. 2 years 6 months old. We took it back to Toros where we bought it and after a few weeks with intermittent nagging from us they declared it unrepairable. It wasn't a cheap TV, I tried contacting Philips and got no reply so we just ended up buying a new one. We weren't happy with the attitude of Toros, Girne and we won't be buying Philips products or from them again. In other countries you have more rights even if a product is out of guarantee, a large appliance should be good for 6 years.
You are in a slightly better position than we were as the TV is still under guarantee. There is a consumer association here, I found this on an old post so not sure if it's up to date : Consumer Association 0392 228 4683, might be worth contacting them to find out your rights in advance.
Good luck, let us know how you get on.

That telephone number seems to be no longer in active use.
I have found two other numbers for the Consumers Association in Lefkoşa: -
0392 229 0790 & 0392 228 9520
Good Luck!

Sophie - there is nothing to be gained by "naming" the shop - they may come good and offer a replacement.
Thank you for the contact numbers - at least i know who to call ( shopbusters !) if i have a problem with them. I really just wanted to know my rights before/if they do not replace the TV.

1. There was a consumer affairs number set up when the lira slid and everyone was putting prices up like crazy.
2. I had postings moderated because I named and shamed a Yapi Market who instantly put 20% on everything even when it was old stock. Yet it seems we can not Criticise (moderated)?? I am all for it by the way.

You can name and shame whoever you like, as long as you pass me your full contact details before you do so. Any backfire, then will pass on poster's details.

There is another side to not naming and shaming though. If I had been treated as ifonly had been treated and then the very self same thing happened to someone else, then I would feel somewhat guilty if and when I read about on the Forum. Its not as if we were talking about a tl or two being charged extra for an Efes. We're talking a lot of money in this case and it does seem unfair not to warn against it. Well that's my feelings on the matter, being someone who is the first to hand out bouquets when I consider a store deserves them.

I got a similar response when I tried to warn people of the danger of buying (moderated) property from (moderated). How many more victims are there now?
