Did my renewal today and thought I would give the under 60's a heads up that we were sent to a clinic in Karaoglanoglu for our blood tests. A bit of a pain for us having come from the West to the police station, onto central Kyrenia to the bank, East to the hospital, West again to the clinic and back to the centre to the police station. Feel sorry for those having to use public transport

I thought Prime Minister Tartar promised recently he was making this process much simpler for expats. Sounds as though his Minister for the Interior and the Immigration Department did not get his message then. Surprised there (sic)! I hope either he or his staff monitor these posts to get the expat views/opinion(s). Whatever "joandjelly" thank you for highlighting this nonsensical farce. The BRS Governmental Liaison Officer might feel this case worth pursuing in the interests of all expats aged under 60 years of age?

The clinics are moved about I have never been to the same one twice. At the end of the day you want to live here that's what you have to do.

The tests are there as a health safeguard, targeted to all including people coming from countries where there is a prevalence of certain diseases. They are used by many countries as a residency requirement.

Not if your over 60 at this time we must all be really healthy

Intimate relations must stop at 60 then........
Have they ever considered that tourists and swallows might carry these ailments about with them, I wonder.

I am more than aware that clinics are moved about as this was my 13th application. Was pointing out the difficulty for those who do not have their own transport.

I am sure you are, I was not suggesting otherwise. However some may not know and some "movements" may benefit some at some times and others at other times.

I am due to renew my residency at the end of September 2019, please could anyone tell me the amount of stamps required this year for the passport again, as normal it goes up every year, just forward planning to get the stamps before the day, save time and hassle at the coffee shop down the corridor, as it is normally very busy.

Wavey, pointless we answer as it will go up again before then.

do you know that for fact, have you asked or checked 2 months before renewing your residency, or do you op out like many if they are over 60 + , a very grey area with the department, BRS and other people that pay or do not pay, it's not BLACK and WHITE, like it should be, making it correct procedure for everyone, they want the money or NOT !!

Wavey your best bet is to go to a post office and ask for stamps for residency, they will give you the correct stamps for immigration and police. I cannot tell you how much it is, as mine was done last July and won't be renewing until next year. I do know that people on here were quoting higher stamp prices than what the post office gave me, where the info came from I don't know, but my stamps were accepted.

Thank you alphamike, very helpful, l will do what l do every year, check last years stamp amounts and add a few for luck, it always works, but this year l would just see if anyone had gone this week and l would buy the correct amount, l will leave it to my old system, thank you again for your help in this matter, have a good year.

No, I do not opt out, even though I am 72, I renew my 'visitor' status every two years and have done so for the last eleven years. My point was that in September (some two months away) the TRNC Government will have, invariably, raised all prices, including stamps, for its services. The advice given to check nearer the time is spot on - IMHO. Please have a nice day.

When the two six-month periods have lapsed, you can then apply for a one-year Temporary Residence.
The fee for a 6-month application is currently 233TL and one 18TL postage stamp.

I don't envy new applicants one bit with these new changes.

Did my First Residency today; in Immigration at Girne Police Station at 8.15am -- out at 8.20am (paperwork checked and given receipt to take to Koop Bank), in Koop Bank at Karakum at 8.30am --- out at 8.45am (immigration receipt and passport shown, 135TL paid and 2 Koop Bank payment receipts given), in Girne State Hospital at 8.55am --- out at 9.05am (immigration receipt and passport shown along with both Koop Bank payment receipts, 1 Koop Bank payment receipt kept by Hospital and the other given back to me along with a letter to take to Private Clinic for blood tests and a business card for the clinic with instruction in English on where it was located), --- in Private Clinic directly opposite the Hospital at 9.07am --- out at 9.20am (blood tests done, letter from Hospital kept), --- 9.30am in Girne Post Office to purchase 24TL in stamps), --- 9.50am back at Immigration at Girne Police Station ---- out at 10.35am (paperwork checked and kept along with 2 passport photos and 24TL in stamps, residency application form filled in by immigration official, Koop Bank payment receipt checked and given back along with passport).
Paperwork taken was photocopy of passport page with my information on, photocopy of my Kocan, Muhtar letter confirming my address, on-line print off of my TL and £ accounts showing recent activity for the last month.
Originally I had a 17.5TL stamp as that was what BRS said in June '19 was needed, on noticeboard next to door to immigration department at Police Station it said stamp required was 24TL hence the need to go to Girne Post Office.
All in all, not at all difficult with every thing going nice and smoothly, fingers crossed my tip to Immigration HQ in Lefkosa in 3 weeks time will be just as straight forward.
