Hi all,
Looking to replace 2 air con units in bedrooms and would like some idea as to what make has the best recommendation, ie Fuji, Bosch, Midea etc. I have been to the showrooms and listened to the salesperson/s pitch (very knowledgeable) I may add but would like to hear what people have to say of their experiences since having new units fitted, including efficiency, running costs and prices if possible.
Many thanks in advance.

i just had 2 for exact same purpose from Mr Pipe - Bosch. Very happy - not sure of running costs yet as they are in guest bedrooms, but they are A+ rated. 3,500 TL each (fitted) with good workmanship and took all their trash after. plus 2 year warranty.

If you use then as a resident you will recover the initial cost .
Very efficient in both heat and cool mode also very quiet I don't think you can get smaller than 1200btu.
Sorry can't really the cost.

There is campaign on fuji and airfel in Karso Klima in Girne. 12 000 BTU is 2700 TL including the installation. I went there that day in the morning, i picked which one i wanted and guys came in the evening and installed it. These two brands of inverters are good. If you want real quality with more extras, then you can get Samsung (however, 12 000 BTU starts from 4000 TL ), Mitsubishi or LG. These three brands of aircons are considered as high end in TRNC.

We had Mr Pipe install 4 Bosch Inverters for us, a 18000BTU downstairs and 3 x 12000BTU in each of our three bedrooms.
They we're installed to a good level, they are quiet and hopefully they will reduce our electric bills, need to wait until the end of the summer to,gauge them but everyone says they are very efficient.
Speak to Sabatini at Mr Pipe, he will look after you

Can’t help with running costs yet, but had a Grundig 12,000 BTU inverter supplied and fitted yesterday by Blomberg in Karaoglanoglu. Price was 3,400tl with 3 year warranty.

Arcelik's are very good too, and their service engineers very quick and efficient. I agree inverters are superb, so much better than old types and much quieter - for nightime especially.

The shop is opposite Kozan Exchange office (just after u pass Mr. Pound, heading towards Catalkoy direction. They sell airfel and fuji (i got 12000 BTU airfel for 2700 TL with installation included ! ) . Their phone is 0533 837 9867. Though they don't seem like speaking English, but you can give it a try.

I have now decided which "Inverter" a/c I am going with and now want to know if it is possible to use the existing pipework already in place from the old "non inverter" units or will the new units have to have there own pipework and new installation?
Thank you all to have responded so far.

Not sure that you 'have 'to get new pipe work but you have paid for it. It is normal to use the existing electric supply.

As above, I don't think its compulsory to use existing, but as you will have paid for new, it seems a put odd not to have the new. We bought a 22000BTU for main living/dining room and 12000BTU for bedrooms. Have'nt used them for summer (prefer fans) but they were great for winter. We buy everything from Grundig in Karaoglanoglu. They certainly reduced the cold weather Kibtek bills, but can't help you with the summer, sorry. Trying to fit them around the off-peek is going to be problematic though.

By 'pipework' you mean the actual connections between outdoor and indoor units i presume? New units will come with all pipework and part of the system - if AC is a direct replacement there shouldnt be any problem with the size of the hole in the wall or the electricity supply. its pretty unlikely that any of your existing pipes would be compatible anyway, plus they would more than likely invalidate any warranty if you insisted on trying. If the units are newly fitted to a room that didnt previously have AC fitted, then expect a 2" hole to be drilled through the wall immediately behind the indoor unit at one end (invisible pipework goes straight through the wall - including the power supply for the indoor unit) and prepare for a bit of potential plastering where they may need to run electric cabling from the nearest AC supply point in the room - to the outdoor unit. Hope that helps.

and further to my last comment - the old unit would more than likely be easier to sell (or relocate) with all pipework in tact. Just a thought.

When you go to the shop tell them you need an aircon fitted into a room that does not have one already and get a quote for that and what it includes in the way of pipe work, electrical work and fitting. Then ask the cost of a unit to replace an existing aircon and get a quote for that as well. Then you will know what to expect and can query any price difference.

Hi
I have not read the previous posts but whatever you do don’t buy Beko. We did and had it taken away less than a month later. Awful service and amateur fitters.
Do it at your peril
Happy to tell more on pm but I’d be sanctioned on open forum.
Kind regards
Lasagne

Hi
The price seems reasonable considering what I paid for LG units, that’s just an opinion. What I can say is that I’ve had quite some experience with their (Arcelik) repair service (because the stuff was old) and they have been quick to respond, prices for service and repair incredibly cheap and staff very helpful.
Kind regards
Lasagne

why you do not import one on your own and ask arcelik for the installation/set up?

Siba are advertising Gree 12000BTU A+++ inverters for 2899TL. No idea if they are any good or not, just passing on info.

Apparently The Vestel shop in Girne were doing a promotion of Vestel inverter 18,000 BTU A/C machines for 2600 TL fitted.
Not sure if the deal is still on
Telephone
Vestel - 0392 8158855
They are on the main road from the water fountain roundabout in Girne driving towards Bellapais direction and on the left hand side.
