Some friends of mine had work done on their Toilet System pipes by Cyprus Solutions when they were in buisness here
so they could put paper down the loo - it cost about £130
and it works well - Would anyone know if there is another firm who can do this?

you could always do it the turkish way and use the dush thing no paper to worry about then

more hygenic too (theoretically) please dont do what the Arabs do and stand on the seat though!!!!!!

Just flush it and have the sewage lorry come around every year and empty the septic tank.
I did hear once that you should not use chemicals down the loo as it stops the bacteria from doing its job of breaking everything down in the septic tank, but not sure how true this is.

Never has a problem where I live nine years on and we havnt need the s...t lorry.

It depends whether you are on an individual or communal septic tank, or a public sewer.

If you are on an individual, most blockages are caused by the poor finishing in your waste chambers. This can cheaply be sorted by having your chambers 'Silicon' lined at very reasonable cost, maybe £100 max per property, ours was £50 for 2 gulleys. On a good system, tank emptying should only be necessary every 5 yrs or so.

If communal or public, you will all have to contribute to individual costs and may still get blockage problems caused by others..

AFAIK, using toilet cleansers, blocks or bleach, should not effect the septic tank performance.

Remember that nothing other than human waste or loo paper should be flushed. So no Cotton Buds, make-up wipes, or other, err,... intimate personal products.

Cyprus Sanitation, were recommended to me to do some repairs, they might be worth a shout, they have a web site and you can email them. I spoke to Colin and he knows his stuff.
No I have no connection with them and am not passing any opinion on them
