The Ministry of Transport, in cooperation with the municipalities of Girne, Lapta and Alsancak are finalizing locations for bus-stops along the Karaoğlanoğlu-to-Karşıyaka road, for where buses and mini-buses can stop. One presumes, even though it's not written in the source I used, the bus stops will be built in a lay-by, so as not to slow the flow of traffic.
Apparently, and this is probably the part that will appeal to at least some on this forum, the mini-bus drivers will be expected to only use the designated stops to allows passengers on or off. Indeed it is written they could be fined if they don't do so.
Don't shoot the messenger if, say, you feel this won't relieve the traffic along the road.

Minibus drivers will never abide. They never do in Turkey, and they never will here.
The only solution is the regular public bus lines, which the idiots in rule will not get their hands on. They are too busy with their personal agenda -making money.
Sorry folks. Get a car.

What a joke. That means people will actually have to walk to a stop. At the moment Dolmus stop to let someone off and then drives the 20yards further up the road to pick someone up. Not the Dolmus drivers fault, its just the lazy so and sos that wont't move a foot to help themselves. As for bus stops, they just won't use them if it means walking a yard or two further up the road.

Sophie, this is why the authorities propose to impose fines on the offending dolmuş drivers. If those are indeed enforced, then people will soon get used to waiting for the dolmuşes at the designated stops.
Maybe we should at least try to appreciate that the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, together with the local municipalities, are at least trying to do their best with the traffic on that road ... but it will never be a silk purse of a road

Frequency of bus stops is always regulated by how many people want to get on or get off. The system worked very well for many years - then people started buying cars instead of donkeys and screwed the whole thing up by wanting to use their own travel system.
