There is a message on the Alsancak Belediyesi FB page dated 26/7 at 10.36, saying there is a water problem in the Alsancak/ Yesiltepe area, no indication when it will be put right.

In Ilgaz we rarely go 24 hours with water on. Last week 3-4 days without. So nothing new.

This is supposed to be drinking water and once it has been stored you should not use for drinking, we have no better supply than we had before the Turkish water came, really disappointing. They are now routing a line from us to feed Incesu so I cannot see any improvements soon despite assurances this will not effect us.

When I went in to Ozankoy Muhtar I was told ‘water man on holiday’ - you couldn’t make it up!
However we were on the next morning, probably a coincidence.

Well we have been off since Thursday in Nasrettin Hoca Caddesi Ozanköy. Some are obviously luckier than others! Hopefully Ali will be putting us on again before too long.

Many thanks . Did look on f/b page but didn’t scroll down far enough! Sounds like we’re lucky to have it on til the evening .

Denis at the Alsancak Belediyesi water department is really helpful. She told me last year, during a water cut, that if we ran out of water to ring her and she would arrange a tanker free of charge. This apparently is a legal right if they are unable to supply mains water. Unfortunately I am.in the UK at the moment so don't have her phone number to hand.

Yes off again. Muhtar's office is no good. Town centre belediye is the only one that seems able to do anything.........albeit only for a short time!

Is it not time that the supply of water to the whole of North t Cyprus be handed over to a competent authority? I understand that when the Turkish water main pipeline was laid. There was an agreement between the Government and the local area councils who wanted control of the water supply in their own particular areas. The problems that are occuring on a regular basis seem to suggest that there is not enough local expertise to control a vital source such as water. We have a official Water Department in North Cyprus and i have spoken to one of the Engineers there who gave me the impression he knew what he was talking about. Surly it would be better to have one authority look after all of the water supply on the island so we can have a clean, safe, potable, reliable system?
