Dont know if the owners of the dog that was hit yesterday are kibcomers but I would love to know how he is doing. If anyone reading this knows the couple can you let me know how he is. I called at the vets but he didnt know for sure. I really hope that he survived the hit, it was heart wrenching to see what some a******e did with his truck, he didnt even stop to see if the dog was ok, drove on for a few moments and then got out to check if there was damage on his truck. The kind couple lost their own dog just a few months ago, and this one then came along and adopted them, at first the lady didnt want to know as she was still grieving for the loss of her own dog, but this friendly dog kept on and in the end they took him in and obviously fell for him. The dog 'died' for a few seconds and then came back, so he is a fighter, from what I know he has a broken rib and it punctured his lung.
Please, if anyone knows this couple can you let them know that I am asking about him, I was the lady waiting at the vets when they arrived. Thanks.
And, if your the driver reading this then remember what goes around comes around, and your turn will come.

Whilst I have every sympathy for the owners and the dog- was it on a lead at the time?, or just wandering about in the road?
I ask because as I was driving down to Erdeners junction from Ozankoy village this morning ,there was a couple(Looked like Brits but not sure) walking two small dogs, now these dogs were running all over the road and the owners were making no effort to restrain them-there were cars swerving to avoid them and I only missed one of them by a hairs breadth.
There are plenty of places to let your beloved pooch run 'off leash' but dog owners really need to show some responsibility here and keep them on a lead on busy roads.
As for the lorry driver-he probably had a schedule to keep and can't really be blamed if a dog ran in front of his truck-trucks take some stopping!-calling him an A*******e is harsh (but I wasn't there)-now If the dog was on a lead and he aimed his truck at it, yes I agree.
But if he had swerved to avoid a dog wandering on the road and perhaps knocked down and injured or killed a child-then what.
There are two sides to everything.

Not only two sides to every question but some people wear two hats as well. As a car driver, and at one time as a cyclist, I concern your concern about dogs wandering about off leads -and am surprised at the number of people who dont keep theirs on leads for the dog's own safety apart from anything else.
However as a dog owner I disgree with your statement , Philoz, that there are plenty of places for dogs to run "off leash". There used to be - I could take my dogs on the lead for 5 or ten minutes to somewhere they could run free safely and without troubling anyone else.. No more, all concerete and tarmac and so much large heavy.fast traffic that I no longer feel safe walking about my village on my own , let alone with dogs on a lead. My favourite footpath (which would have been designed at pedestrian right of way in the UK) now has a swimming pool (never seen in use) right across. I have to put dog in the car and drive a distance before I can find somewhere safe from traffic to give them a run and even then I am afraid of poison.
The road you mention is a case in point. It has no footpaths and is traditionally a place for peope to walk often with children and/or dogs and/or carrying shopping because they are not forunate enough to own cars. There are no streetlights as such, but lights where there are houses cast shadows wher pedestrians are difficult to see. But the "gods" is their machines continue to ignore it as a facility for local residents where they should drive slowly and carefully ,, but continue to speed to the pub and with bliding headlights at night dazzling other traffic. I have been forced into a ditch there when I was driving a normal car, let alone on foot!

Philoz, sorry but I didnt ask in my post for other questions or statements to be stated, please start your own post if you wish to talk about lorry/truck drivers who have a schedule so that makes it ok to hit a dog, stop and check if there is any damage, and drive on without even asking how the dog is. If you dont know who the couple are then there was no need to post.
I also wondered if the dog was on a lead or not, I have 2 dogs and both are always on a lead, I also clean their mess up behind them, so what, we are not all the same. As a car driver if a dog ran out and I hit it, I would be straight out to see how the dog was and see if I could take it to the nearest vet, or just see if I could do anything, it wouldnt matter if I was on my way to collect a big fat cheque I would stop, but like I said we are not all the same.
My post was to find out if the dog survived.

Just a quick word to say that, Sherlock, the dog hit by a car in Esentepe is doing ok. He was kept in the vet's for one night. One of his ribs punctured his lungs and he had to have his chest drained of air. He has to take it easy for a while, but hopefully he will be alright. Feeling very sorry for himself though.

Norma Jean, Thank you so much for your reply, It was awful to see him and his owners in that state. I dont blame him for feeling sorry for himself, glad to hear he will be okay, he is one lucky dog. Lor
