Parked the car last night at 7pm at this local car park. whilst visiting the superb BENGI,S bar .
went to pick it up.this morning . The man running it then demanded an extra 20lira on top of the 10 I already paid. got quite heated and the son came .very threatening .right on my face trying to scare me. . I told him that the price is 10tl. when asked why 30tl ,he said because I parked overnight . I said I would pay 20 tl . which is the 10 daily. be warned of this practice on this car park. nasty people running it.

car parks normally display their tariffs. including overnight so you know where you stand.
this was 10tl to park. no other rates displayed. was more annoyed with the man's attitude. it was as usual a hot day .i dropped my partner off to collect her car . she did not return home for some time.
unluckily she had no.phone and no.money. he refused to.let her use his phone to call me. thankfully a local bar lent her the money and she left. you think that's ok then.

I'm not very good at Google maps so can you enlighten we thickies please tomsteel. Sadly susiesusie your description is as clear as mud to me, sorry. However, there are quite a number of small car parking areas that don't advertise the prices though and its best to check first.

I did Google the bar and tried to follow the directions, with no success. It would appear to be leaving Girne towards where the old HSBC bank was located but not that far - near the White House on the left, past the clinic, which is on the right just before the turning back into town. Having never been to the bar in question, I am at a loss from the directions given - sorry.

How in gods name you came up with St. Andrews after the description given I have no idea. Where is Benjis bar? I would have thought the word main car park, the square,Georges beledye all in that area plus the hill down to the castle would have been better points toward the car park. But what would I know I'm a man. Oops

We rarely, if ever, visit town centre bars, so don't care really, but other people might partake occasionally. Another "private" car park with no prices any where, is just up from the Catholic church. About a month ago we went on it at 7.45am and drove off at 8.15am when suddenly a harridan screamed at us from a nearby block of flats, joined by a bloke in a house across the road. We beat a hasty retreat and have never returned.

Is it the through car park opposite Niazis around the corner from the Rocks hotel? When you said next to the white house I assume it is. It was a free car park for years.

hope this helps... go to the top of the street on the block where kibtek electricity payment office is. in town. think limmassol bank is there opposite. don't go across but turn right . the very next available car turning on the right. 20 metres on the left . you would have passed bengi bar . or leave kibtek by foot turning left . simit shop on corner. the left. opposite the dome hotel is a road going up on the left. follow it up and it's there on the right .its just all a loop..

Spot on Kanonier. If susiesusie had mentioned the Catholic Church, it would have solved a lot of map searching.

Ah well sophie, some people give directions by referring to Churches, and some start "From the Corner Bar, turn left at the Nag's Head..."

...and for all those who have PM'd me asking "Which Corner Bar, exactly?" - it was just a fictitious example plucked from the air for humorous purposes by my febrile imagination

I know exactly where you are it has a run down house in it. The house is leased and someone lives upstairs who is obviously doing it without the owners permission as he lives in Leeds.was it a small bald guy you spoke to he's the guy with the coffee shop/bar almost opposite he speaks good English.

To be honest terry2366, it was 8.15 in the morning, I'd rushed in to Girne, without even a cup of coffee first in order to run an urgent errand, and all I heard was the harridan from an upstairs balcony and the bloke from across the road. Can't understand why this has become a "hot" topic. Maybe its because of the ambient temperatures and it makes a change from Russian women!

To be honest karakumc5 I believe that attitudes like this only embolden these people and their scams. The lady was asked to pay more than she thought the going rate and felt threatened, nowhere is that acceptable. To dismiss this behaviour as "only three quid" is missing the point.
